The National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft is an annual event in which the NHL franchises select players who have been and eligible to be drafted. The draft order is determined by a combination of the standings at the end of the previous season, and a lottery involving the teams that did not make the playoffs.

There have been many Great players drafted from all over the world, and this year was no different. Of the 217 players drafted in 2018, 109 were Canadian, 47 American, 24 Russian, 12 Czech Republic 10 Swedish, 8 Finnish, 4 Slovenian, 3 Slovakian, 2 German, 2 Latvian, 1 Danish and 1 Swiss.

2020 NHL Draft Prospects

The 2020 NHL Draft is just around the corner, and hockey fans everywhere are eagerly awaiting to see which young prospects their favorite teams will be adding to their rosters.

There’s a lot of talent available in this year’s Draft Class and it’s sure to be an exciting event. So which players are expected to be taken early on? And which ones might be available later in the draft?

Here’s a look at some of the top 2020 NHL Draft prospects, along with where they might end up being drafted:

– Alexis Lafreniere, LW, Rimouski (QMJHL): The consensus top prospect in this year’s draft class Lafreniere is an elite offensive talent who is expected to go first overall to the New York Rangers

– Quinton Byfield, C, Sudbury (OHL): Byfield is a big (6’4″, 214lbs) center who is second in Central Scouting’s North American rankings. He’s expected to go second overall to the Los Angeles Kings.

– Tim Stuetzle, LW, Mannheim (DEL): Stuetzle is a skilled German forward who is third in Central Scouting’s European rankings. He’s expected to go third overall to the Ottawa Senators.

– Marco Rossi, C, Ottawa (OHL): Rossi is a diminutive (5’9″, 185lbs) but highly skilled center who led the OHL in scoring this past season with 120 points (39 goals, 81 assists) in 56 games. He’s expected to go somewhere in the top 10 of the draft.

NHL Draft History

The NHL Draft is an annual event in which the teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) select player who will become members of their organization. It is held every June, with the most recent one taking place in 2019.

NHL teams take turns selecting eligible players, with the order of selection determined by a combination of the previous season’s standings, lotteries held before the draft, and offseason trades involving draft picks

Players who have been selected in the NHL Draft may play professionally in the NHL or in other leagues (such as the American Hockey League or European leagues).

The NHL Draft Lottery is an annual event that determines the order of selection for the first 15 picks of the NHL Entry Draft The lottery is held among the 14 teams that did not qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The team with the Worst Record receives the highest probability of winning the lottery and thus, the first overall pick in the Draft.

As of the 2019–20 season, a total of 1,217 players have been selected in the NHL Entry Draft and 930 of them have played at least one game in the NHL.
