INF Jordan Wilkie
A senior from Chicago, Wilkie is a three-time All- American and the reigning National Player of the Year. He is a gifted hitter with a tremendous amount of power.
OF Chance Mitchell
Mitchell is a five-tool player who can do it all on the field. He is a top prospect and is sure to be drafted high in the MLB Draft this year.
RHP Miles Johnson
The ace of the pitching staff, Johnson is an electric right-hander who strikes out batters at an alarming rate. He has been dominant on the mound all season long
The Team’s Pitching Staff
The team’s pitching staff is led by ace pitcher Jake Mangum Mangum is a junior right-hander who was drafted in the fourth round by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2018. He opted to return to school for his senior year and is considered one of the top prospects in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft.
The Team’s Infielders
The infield is the heart of any baseball team and the Alabama A&M Bulldogs are no exception. They have a strong core of returning starters, led by third baseman Jake Bannon, who hit .341 with 8 home runs and 47 RBI last season. He’ll be joined by second baseman Michael Hunt (.304, 3 HR, 24 RBI), first baseman Josh Adams (.285, 6 HR, 33 RBI), and shortstop Cole Freeman (.273, 1 HR, 22 RBI). The team will also have some depth in the infield with utility player Garrett Cook (.254, 2 HR, 17 RBI) and freshman phenom Tyler Haswell.
The Bulldogs’ infield will be one of the best in the conference this season and should help lead the team to a successful year.
The Team’s Outfielders
The team’s outfielders are a big reason why the Bulldogs are expected to be one of the best teams in the conference this season. Senior Jordon Perkins is the team’s returning starter in left field Perkins is a versatile player who can hit for power and average. He is also a good defender and has a strong arm. In right field, the Bulldogs will have a new starter in junior college transfer Brandon Wilkerson. Wilkerson is a speedster who hits for average and has the potential to steal a lot of bases. Center field will be manned by sophomore Mikey Reyes. Reyes is a gifted hitter with a lot of power. He is also a very good defender.
The Team’s Catchers
The Alabama A&M baseball team is looking strong this season, and a big part of that is thanks to their talented group of catchers.
Leading the way is Junior Kameron Devlin, who is coming off a strong sophomore season in which he hit .301 with 4 home runs and 26 RBI. Devlin has developed into one of the best all-around catchers in the conference, and he will be a key player for the team this season.
Behind Devlin is Sophomore Luke Ward, who provides a nice complement to Devlin’s skill set. Ward is an outstanding defender, and he also has a strong arm. He struggled at the plate last season, but he has worked hard this offseason to improve his hitting. If he can provide some offense to go along with his excellent defense, he will be a big asset to the team.
Rounding out the group is freshman phenom Brock Nichols. Nichols was one of the top recruits in the country coming out of High School and he has already shown that he has what it takes to play at the collegiate level. He will likely see limited action this season behind Devlin and Ward, but he has the potential to be a star for the team in years to come.
The Alabama A&M Baseball Team has high hopes for this season, and with a talented group of catchers leading the way, they have a good chance to reach their goals.
The Team’s Designated Hitter
As the designated hitter for the Alabama A&M Baseball team Joey Brown is a force to be reckoned with.
Brown is a senior from Pelham, Alabama, and he is hitting .377 with four home runs and 26 RBIs this season. He has also stolen 16 bases in 18 attempts.
In the field, Brown has played error-Free Baseball in right field and center field. He has also pitched in four games, compiling a 1-0 record with a 4.76 ERA.
With his strong performance at the plate and in the field, Brown has helped the Alabama A&M baseball team to a 26-15 record this season.
