Aldrich Nhl: A New Hope for the New York Islanders – The New York Islanders have been a struggling franchise for many years now.
New York Islanders
Since the days of Mike Milbury and Garth Snow, the New York Islanders have been a laughing stock. A once proud franchise that had won four Stanley Cups in a row in the early 1980s had become a laughing stock under the stewardship of two regimes that were more concerned with making headlines than winning hockey games
But there is hope on the horizon. In 2019, Lou Lamoriello was brought in as the new President of Hockey Operations and he wasted no time in making changes. He fired Head Coach Doug Weight and General Manager Snow, and he brought in Barry Trotz to be the new head coach
Lamoriello also made some shrewd trades, acquiring players like Anders Lee, Brock Nelson, and Jordan Eberle who have helped turn the team around. The Islanders are now one of the best teams in the NHL, and they appear to be on their way to ending their decades-long Stanley Cup drought.
