The team is made up of 27 players, 14 of which are returners from last year. This leaves 13 new members to the team, all of which are freshmen. The Pitchers on the 2019 Arkansas baseball Roster

The Arkansas baseball team has a lot of talent on its roster this year, and that includes a number of excellent pitchers. Let’s meet the nine men who will be taking the mound for the Razorbacks in 2019.

First up is Connor Noland, a right-handed sophomore from Greenbrier, Arkansas. Noland was a key member of the pitching staff last season, appearing in 19 games and starting eight. He had a 4-3 record with a 3.38 ERA, and he struck out 50 batters in 62 innings pitched Noland will be looked to as a leader on the staff this season, and he has the potential to be one of the best pitchers in the SEC.

Joining Noland in the rotation will be another right-hander, junior Blaine Knight. Knight was Arkansas’ ace last season, going 10-4 with a 2.89 ERA in 17 starts. He struck out 120 batters in 109 innings pitched, and he was named Second Team All-SEC. Knight has Good Stuff across the board and is one of the more polished pitchers on the staff. He’ll be counted on to anchor the rotation once again in 2019.

Lathan Crumley is a left-handed junior who will also be in the rotation this season. Crumley made 16 starts last year and posted a 4-6 record with a 4.91 ERA. He struck out 79 batters in 79 innings pitched, and he’ll look to take a step forward this season as he becomes more accustomed to pitching at the SEC level.

Cody Scroggins is another lefty who will see time out of the bullpen this year. Scroggins is a senior from Fayetteville, Arkansas, and he appeared in 27 games last season, posting a 2-1 record with an 8.22 ERA. Scroggins has good stuff but struggled with his control at times last year; if he can throw more strikes in 2019, he should be an effective reliever for the Razorbacks.

The Catchers on the 2019 Kansas baseball Roster

The 2019 Arkansas baseball team will feature a talented group of catchers, led by sophomore All-American Casey Opitz. Opitz will be joined by junior college transfer Braydon Whisler and freshmen Matt Goodheart and Luke Bonfield.

Whisler, a transfer from San Jacinto College is a 6’5″, 220-pounder who was named a preseason NJCAA All-American. He hit .353 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs last season.

Goodheart, a native of Bryant, Arkansas, was ranked as the No. 1 catcher in the state by perfect game USA. He hit .413 with nine home runs and 32 RBIs as a senior in High School

Bonfield, from Tuckahoe, New York, comes to Arkansas after a stint in the Cape Cod League. He hit .302 with four home runs and 18 RBIs in his final season of high school

The Outfielders on the 2019 Arkansas baseball Roster

The 2019 Arkansas Baseball Team is looking to build on the success of their 2018 campaign. Head Coach Dave Van Horn has built a program that is a perennial SEC and National Championship contender. The team is led by a core group of experienced upperclassmen, including All-SEC performers Heston Kjerstad and Casey Martin. The team will look to their young talent, includingDominic Fletcher and Luke Bonfield, to step up and contribute in key situations. The team has high expectations and is looking to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament

The outfield for the 2019 Arkansas Baseball team is one of the strength of the team. The team is returning all three starters from last year’s squad, senior Dominic Fletcher, junior Heston Kjerstad, and sophomore CADyn Gardner. This trio provides a mix of experience, athleticism, and power that will be key for the Razorbacks in 2019.

Fletcher is the leader of the group and was named a Preseason All-American by multiple publications. He is a two-time All-SEC performer and was named to the SEC All-Defensive team in 2018. Fletcher is also a threat on the bases, as he was tied for second on the team in stolen bases last season. He will be looking to build on his strong junior campaign and solidify himself as one of the best outfielders in college baseball

Kjerstad had a breakout sophomore season in 2018 and established himself as one of the best hitters in college baseball He was named First Team All-SEC after hitting . 324 with 17 Home Runs and 61 RBIs. Kjerstad has immense power and should be one of the top run producers in the SEC again in 2019. He will be looking to improve his defense in left field this season.

Gardner had an up-and-down freshman season but flashed potential at times with his bat speed and raw power. He hit .273 with 5 home runs last season but struck out too much (50 strikeouts). Gardner will be looking to make more contact this season and tap into his raw power more often. He has all the tools to be a successful hitter at the collegiate level and could be poised for a breakout sophomore season.

The Razorbacks are coming off a successful 2018 campaign in which they finished 45-19 (19-11 in SEC play) and made it all the way to the College World Series They’ll be looking to build on that success this year, and they’ll have a strong roster to help them do it.

Let’s take a closer look at the 2019 Arkansas Baseball Roster

Pitchers:
– Blaine Knight: The junior right-hander from Bryant, Arkansas is the reigning SEC Pitcher of the Year and a preseason All-American. He was 10-4 with a 2.84 ERA last season, striking out 114 batters in 111 innings pitched. He’ll be the ace of the staff again in 2019.
– Ryne Stanek: The senior right-hander is a transfer from Florida who was drafted in the third round by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2013. He has two years of eligibility remaining and will be one of Arkansas’ top starters this season.
– Trevor Stephan: The senior right-hander is another experienced arm who will be counted on to eat up some innings for the Hogs this season. He was 6-4 with a 4.46 ERA last year, pitching mostly out of the bullpen.
– Evan Lee: The junior left-hander is Arkansas’ only lefty starter and will play an important role in the rotation this season. He was 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA last year, making seven starts and eight relief appearances.

Relief pitchers:

– Matt Cronin: The sophomore left-hander was one of Arkansas’ top relievers as a freshman last season, going 3-1 with three saves and a 1.93 ERA in 32 appearances (26 innings pitched). He figures to play an even bigger role in 2019.
– Jacob Kostyshock: The senior right-hander is another experienced reliever who will be counted on to eat up some innings out of the bullpen this season. He was 1-0 with seven strikeouts in eight innings pitched last year.
– Barrett Loseke: The junior right-hander burst onto the scene as a freshman last season, going 7-2 with four saves and a 1.94 ERA in 35 relief appearances (39 innings pitched). He figures to be one of Arkansas’ go-to guys out of the bullpen again in 2019
