Bentley University’s Basketball team has seen a lot of success in recent years The team has made it to the NCAA Division II Tournament four times in the last six years, and they won the Northeast-10 conference championship in 2018.
So what’s behind Bentley’s success?
Head coach Ryan Colden attributes it to a combination of factors, including a strong commitment to recruiting, improved facilities, and a better overall understanding of the game by his players.
“We’ve really focused on recruiting high-character kids who are not only good basketball players but also good students and good people,” Colden told The Athletic. “We want kids who are going to represent Bentley the right way, both on and off the court.”
Colden also credited Bentley’s improved facilities as a major factor in the team’s recent success. The school opened a new $13 million athletic facility in 2017, which includes a state-of-the-art basketball court
“Our facilities are second to none,” Colden said. “It’s helped us attract some talented players.”
Finally, Colden believes that his players have simply gotten better at understanding the game of basketball He said that they have done a good job of studying film and using advanced analytics to improve their decision-making on the court.
“They’re really starting to think the game at a high level,” Colden said. “They’re Playing with a lot of confidence right now.”
