How the Big 12 Conference Baseball Tournament Works
The Big 12 Conference Baseball Tournament is a Baseball Tournament held each year to determine the NCAA Division I college baseball champion of the Big 12 Conference.
The tournament bracket is announced on Selection Monday, which is the Monday immediately after the last Sunday of the regular season and play begins that Wednesday. The tournament consists of four teams playing in a double-elimination format.
The top two seeds receive a first-round bye, while the other two seeds play each other in a best-of-three series. The winners of those two series then advance to play the top two seeds in a best-of-three series, with the winners of those series advancing to play each other in the Championship game
If one team wins both of its first two games, that team will automatically advance to the Championship game and will only need to win one more game to win the tournament. If both of the top two seeds lose their first games, they will play each other in an elimination game, with the winner advancing to play in the Championship game
In order for a team to be eligible for the NCAA tournament it must either win its conference tournament or finish in the top eight of its conference’s Regular Season standings.
