The Brandeis University Judges Baseball Team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, United States The team is a member of the University Athletic Association, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division III Brandeis’ first baseball team was fielded in 1948. The team plays its home games at Shapiro Family Field in Waltham. The Judges are coached by Tony DiCicco.

Brandeis University has a long and proud tradition of producing winning baseball teams The 2017 Baseball Schedule is no different, with the team looking to build on their successes of the past few seasons. Here is a look at some team stats:

-Brandeis University has an all-time record of 1,018-744-20 (.576), including 27 seasons with 20 or more victories.
-The Judges have appeared in 11 NCAA Division III Tournaments, most recently in 2014. They have won four New England Regional titles and one National Championship coming in 1986.
-In 2016, the Judges finished 25-17 overall and 15-10 (fifth place) in the University Athletic Association. They were 3-2 in conference tournament play, reaching the semifinal round for the first time since 2005.

Standings

The Brandeis University baseball team is currently in 6th place in the University Athletic Association standings. The team has an overall record of 12-17 and a conference record of 5-9.

Coaching Staff

Brandeis University has a long-standing tradition of excellence in baseball, and the Coaching Staff is dedicated to continuing that tradition.

Head Coach Seth Perlstein enters his sixth season at the helm of the Judges’ baseball program in 2019. He has compiled a 131-98 (.571) record, leading the team to the NCAA Division III tournament in 2014 and 2017.

Associate Head Coach Charles Steinberg joins Perlstein on the sidelines for his sixth season in 2019. Steinberg, who also serves as Brandeis’s Director of Athletic Communications, has helped guide the Judges to a .500 or better record in three of his five seasons.

History

Brandeis University has a long and storied history in baseball. The team has been in existence since the early days of the university, dating back to 1885. The team had great success in its early years, winning the first ever Intercollegiate World Series in 1888. The team also won back to back National Championships in 1892 and 1893.

The team continued to be successful throughout the early years of the 20th century, but then went through a period of decline. The team was resurrected in the 1970s and has been competing at a high level ever since. The team has won numerous conference championships and made several trips to the NCAA tournament
