Introduction
Cal Poly’s men’s basketball team is set to have an exciting season and there are some must-see games on their schedule. Here are four games that shouldn’t be missed:
1. Cal Poly vs. UC Santa Barbara – This is always a big rivalry game and it should be a good one this year.
2. Cal Poly vs. Long Beach State – Long Beach State is one of the top teams in the conference, so this will be a tough test for the Mustangs.
3. Cal Poly vs. CSU Northridge – CSU Northridge is another top team in the conference and this will be a good measuring stick for Cal Poly
4. Cal Poly vs. UC Irvine – UC Irvine is always a tough opponent and this should be a great game to end the regular season
Game 1: vs. UC Santa Barbara
The first game of the season is always an exciting one, and this year is no different. The Cal Poly Slo Men’s Basketball team will be taking on UC Santa Barbara at the Mott Athletics Center on November 10th. This will be the first time these two teams have met since last year’s Big West conference tournament where UCSB won handily.
This year, however, things are different. The Mustangs are coming off of a strong season in which they won 21 games and made it to the semifinals of the conference tournament They return all five starters from that team, including senior guard Victor Joseph, who led the team in scoring last season.
UC Santa Barbara on the other hand, is coming off of a down year in which they lost 20 games and failed to make the postseason. They will be looking to turn things around this season, but it will not be easy against a Cal Poly team that is looking to prove themselves as one of the best teams in the conference.
This promises to be an exciting game between two evenly matched teams. Be sure to catch it if you can!
Game 2: vs. Long Beach State
This is a game you won’t want to miss! Long Beach State is always a tough team, and this will be a good test for our boys early in the season. Come out and support your Cal Poly Slo Mustangs as they take on the Long Beach State 49ers!

In their third game of the season, the Cal Poly SLO Mustangs take on CSU Fullerton This will be a tough match-up for the Mustangs, as CSU Fullerton is a team that always gives them trouble. However, the Mustangs are coming off of a Big Win against UC Santa Barbara and will be looking to continue their winning ways. This should be a great game to watch and one that the Mustang fans will not want to miss.
Game 4: vs. UC Irvine
The fourth game on the schedule is a home matchup against UC Irvine. The Anteaters are always a tough opponent, and this game is sure to be a thrilling one. Make sure you don’t miss it!
Game 5: vs. UC Riverside
The UC Riverside game is one of the most anticipated games of the season. Riverside is a tough team, and the matchup between the two schools is always close. This year, Cal Poly has a chance to prove that they are the better team.

Heading into the final game of the regular season the Cal Poly men’s Basketball team finds itself in a must-win situation. A victory would not only give the Mustangs a share of the Big West Conference title, but it would also secure the program’s first-ever berth in the NCAA tournament Standing in their way is a UC Davis squad that has proven to be a tough out all season long
This matchup features two of the best players in the conference in Cal Poly’s Luke Meikle and UC Davis’ Chima Moneke. Meikle has been electric for the Mustangs all season, averaging 17.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game Moneke, meanwhile, is one of the top all-around players in the Big West averaging 16.9 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest.
The game will be played on Saturday, March 4 at 4:00 p.m. at Mott Athletics Center on the campus of Cal Poly.
Game 8: vs. UC Santa Cruz
The eighth game on the Cal Poly SLO men’s Basketball Schedule is a home matchup against UC Santa Cruz. This game will take place on December 18th at 8:00 PM. UC Santa Cruz is a Division III school, and they are coming into this game with a 4-3 record. They have losses to Montana State San Francisco and Pepperdine, and their wins have come against Menlo, Mills, and Simpson. This will be the first meeting between these two teams.
