The team was made up of Native American players from all over the United States and Canada. They were the best in the league and no one could beat them.
The team was started by Charles A. Bidwell, who was the owner of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks baseball team He wanted to create a team that would represent all of the Native American nations. The Chinook played their first game in 1941 and they won their first championship in 1942. They went on to win three more championships in a row. The Chinook were so good that they were invited to play in an exhibition game against the Chicago White Sox which they won 6-2.
After the fourth championship, Bidwell sold the team to Jack Dolan, who was also the owner of the Winnipeg Goldeyes Baseball Team Dolan kept most of the players and they continued to dominate their opponents. In 1946, they won their fifth championship in a row.
