The NCAA tournament
The NCAA Tournament is the most exciting time of the year for college basketball fans. EveryMarch, 64 teams from across the country compete in a single-elimination tournament to crown a National Champion The tournament is commonly referred to as “March Madness ”
In recent years the tournament has expanded to include 72 teams, with four “play-in” games being held prior to the start of the main tournament. The play-in games involve the four lowest-ranked teams in the field, with the winner of each game advancing to the main bracket.
The first round of the tournament features 32 games, with 16 of those games being played on Thursday and Friday and the remaining 16 being played on Saturday and Sunday. The winners of each first-round game advance to the second round, where they are once again matched up against a team from another region of the country.
This process repeats itself until only four teams remain: The Elite Eight. These final eight teams battle it out in two rounds of games until only two remain: The Final Four. These two teams face off in a winner-takes-all Championship game to determine who will be crowned national champion.
In recent years, the tournament has been dominated by a handful of powerhouse programs such as Duke, Kentucky, and North Carolina However, upsets are always a possibility in March Madness so don’t count any team out until they’ve been eliminated from the tournament!
The Final Four
The 2022 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament will be the final edition of the annual single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men’s NCAA Division I college basketball It is scheduled to begin on March 14, 2022 and will conclude with the Championship game on April 3 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
A total of 68 teams will enter the 2022 tournament as determined by their conference tournament results and regular season records. The First Four games, consisting of four teams playing in a play-in format, will take place on March 14 and 15 at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio. The first and second rounds of the tournament will take place on March 17 and 19 at various arenas around the country. The Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds will take place on March 24 and 26 at Lucas Oil Stadium, while the Final Four will take place on April 2.

The CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) is a single-elimination tournament of 32 teams consisting of 24 automatic qualifiers and 8 at-large bids.
