The Columbia Regional is one of four double-Nation Tournaments being held across the country this weekend, with a total of 16 teams competing for a spot in the College World Series The winner of each regional will advance to the Super Regional round next weekend, with a chance to punch their ticket to Omaha for the College World Series

Oregon State is the top seed in the Columbia Regional, and they will take on fourth-seeded Holy Cross in the Opening Round The Beavers are one of the top teams in the country and are coming off a Pac-12 conference title They will be heavy favorites in this tournament, but Holy Cross should not be overlooked. The Crusaders went 30-24 this season and have one of the best pitchers in the country in Bobby Holmes.

The other first-round matchup features second-seeded Louisville taking on third-seeded Michigan. The Cardinals are coming off a 42-20 season and won the ACC Atlantic Division title. They are one of the best offensive teams in the country, led by slugger Tyler Fitzgerald. Michigan went 33-25 this season and finished second in the Big Ten Conference behind conference champion Iowa. The Wolverines have a talented pitching staff that will need to be at its best to win this tournament.

The winners of Friday’s games will face off against each other on Saturday, with the losers playing an elimination game against each other on Friday Night Sunday’s schedule has yet to be determined, but it will feature either an elimination game or the Championship game depending on who wins Saturday’s games.

The Sycamores are the third seed in the regional and they come in with a record of 39-19. They are led by pitcher Jake Paulson, who has been one of the best pitchers in college baseball this season.

In recent years the Columbia Regional has been won by some of the nation’s top programs In 2019, top-seeded Clemson won the regional, while in 2018 it was Florida State In 2017, it was Wake Forest that took home the title.

In 1949, the first Caa Baseball tournament was held with eight teams. The Columbia Regional has been a part of every NCAA Baseball tournament since its inception. From 1954 to 1972, it was a best-of-three series, and it has been a best-of-seven series since 1973. For the first time in the history of the Columbia Regional, all four games will be televised on ESPNU.
