The ACHA currently has six divisions: Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, Women’s Division 1, Women’s Division 2 and Women’s Division 3. Missouri State is a part of Division 2. The ACHA schedule typically runs from late September to early April. Each team is allowed 30 regular season games plus two exhibition games.

In order to be eligible to play in the ACHA, players must meet academic eligibility requirements set forth by their respective institution and the ACHA. Missouri State players must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher and full-time student status to be eligible for competition.

From appearing in back-to-back National Championship games to setting records for fundraising and attendance, Missouri State hockey is quickly making a name for itself.

And it all started with a bold vision and a lot of hard work

In 2012, then-Head coach Mike Howell took over a program that was in disarray. The team was coming off a last-place finish in its conference and had won just eight games the previous season.

Howell set out to turn things around quickly, and he did just that. In his first season, the team improved to 18 wins and made it to the conference semifinals. The following year, Missouri State won 25 games and made it all the way to the National Championship game, where they narrowly lost to eventual champion Northeastern.

Since then, Missouri State has continued to build on its success, winning 30 games in each of the last two seasons and appearing in another National Championship game in 2018. The program has also set fundraising records and averaged more than 2,000 fans per game last season, shattering its previous record by more than 1,000 fans.

With its rich history, passionate fan base and strong tradition of success, Missouri State hockey is poised for even more growth in the years to come. Thanks to the vision and dedication of those who came before us, we are building a legacy that will last long after we hang up our skates.
