The Csub Baseball Team is made up of a variety of talented individuals, each with their own unique skills and abilities. Here is a closer look at the roster, so you can get to know the team better.
Jack Bauer – Catcher
Jack is a senior this year and has been with the team for all four years of his eligibility. He’s a steady presence behind the plate and has a strong arm, making him a key asset in stopping opposing teams from running.
Bobby Johnson – First Baseman
Bobby is a transfer student from San Diego State University He’s a power hitter with a good eye for the ball, making him a dangerous threat at the plate. He’s also a solid defender, ensuring thatopponents don’t get any easy outs when they’re Playing the CSUB 9.
Stephanie Wong – Second Baseman
Stephanie is a junior and one of the team’s most versatile players. She can play second base, third base, and even shortstop if needed. She’s an aggressive hitter who isn’t afraid to take risks on the basepaths.
Juan Rodriguez – Third Baseman
Juan is another versatile player who can also play shortstop or second base if needed. He’s got a great arm and is very accurate when throwing to first base to make the out. Juan is also one of the team’s best hitters, frequently hitting for power and average.
David Park – Shortstop
David is a sophomore and one of the team’s most promising young players He has good range in the field and makes all the routine plays look easy. He’s also showing signs of being a very good hitter, with gap power and the ability to hit for average as well.
Tyler Kim – Left Fielder
Tyler is one of the team’s best defenders, with good speed and instincts in tracking down fly balls He doesn’t have much power at the plate, but he uses his speed to his advantage on the basepaths.
Alex Lee – Center Fielder
Alex is another speedy outfielder who does a great job of running down balls in center field. He doesn’t have much power either, but he more than makes up for it with his batting average and on-base percentage
Mark Nguyen – Right Fielder
Mark rounds out the outfield trio and provides good defense in right field. He also has some power at the plate and hits for decent average as well
The Infielders
The infielders are the heart of the defense. They have to be quick and have good reflexes to be able to get the ball to first base in time.
There are four field positions first base, second base, third base, and shortstop.
First baseman: The first baseman’s job is to catch the ball when it is hit by the batter. He also has to be able to stretch out and catch balls that are hit hard.
Second baseman: The second baseman’s job is to catch the ball when it is hit to him and then throw it to first base. He also has to be able cover a lot of ground so that he can make plays on balls that are hit between him and the shortstop.
Third baseman: The third baseman’s job is to catch the ball when it is hit by the batter and then throw it to first base. He also has responsibility for covering any balls that are hit down the third Base Line
Shortstop: The shortstop’s job is similar to that of the second baseman, except that he has more territory to cover because he is closer to second base than the third baseman is.
The Outfielders
The outfielders are usually the stars of the team. They have to cover a lot of ground and have a great arm. Here is a list of the current outfielders on the CSUB baseball team
Tyler Molinaro #2
Tyler is a senior and has been with the team since he was a freshman. He is from San Diego California and played his High School ball at Poway high school Tyler is 6’1″ and weighs 185 pounds. He bats and throws left-handed.
Blake Gentry #15
Blake is from Oklahoma City Oklahoma. He played his high school ball at Putnam City North high school where he was a two-time all-state selection. Blake is 6’0″ and weighs 195 pounds. He bats left-handed but throws right-handed.
Sean Sweeney #25
Sean is from San Diego California and played his high school ball at Patrick Henry high school Sean is 6’0″ and weighs 185 pounds. He bats left-handed but throws right-handed.
The Catchers
The catcher is the most important position on the defensive side of the game. They are responsible for stopping the ball from hitting the ground and preventing the opposing team from stealing bases A good catcher will have quick reflexes, good hand-eye coordination and a strong arm.

The Pitchers
Now that we’ve gone through the starting lineup it’s time to take a look at the pitchers! The pitching staff is led by Head Coach Drew Peterson and Pitching Coach Jeremy Beard. Here is a list of the pitchers, their year in school, and their hometown:
-Freshman right-hander Anthony Segura is from Fresno, California.
-Sophomore right-hander Nate Cook is from Bakersfield, California.
-Sophomore left-hander Danny Collier is from San Diego California.
-Junior right-hander Kyle Johnson is from Los Angeles California.
-Senior right-hander Kevin Maas is from San Francisco California.
The Coaches
Bobby Moews is in his 12th season as the head coach of the Csub Baseball Team Prior to his arrival at Csub, he was an Assistant Coach at the University of Virginia He has a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Emporia State University and a master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University Chicago
Assistant coach Ryan Haines is in his sixth season with the program. He is a native of Virginia and has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from James Madison University.
Pitching coach Alex Lyon is in his first season with the team. He attended George Mason University, where he played baseball, and has a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
The Trainers
The trainers are an important part of any team, helping to prevent and treat injuries. The CSU Bakersfield Baseball team has a great training staff, led by Head Athletic Trainer ScottEMOTE.
Scott has been with the team for four years and has a wealth of experience in athletic training He is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and has a Master’s degree in sports medicine
The rest of the training staff includes Assistant athletic trainer AlexREMOTE, who has been with the team for two years, and Graduate Assistant athletic trainers JakeREMOTE and NickREMOTE.
The trainers work tirelessly to keep the players healthy and on the field, and they are an important part of the CSU Bakersfield baseball family
The Managers
The CSUB baseball team has had some great manage rs over the years. Here are some of the most well-known:
-Mike Krukow: Krukow played for the Chicago Cubs San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies He was also a color commentator for the Giants from 1985-1986.
--Don Mattingly Mattingly played for the New York Yankees from 1982-1995. He was a 6-time All-Star and won the American League MVP Award in 1985. He also managed the Yankees from 2014-2017.
--Joe Girardi Girardi played for the Chicago Cubs Colorado Rockies St. Louis Cardinals and Houston Astros He also managed the Yankees from 2008-2017.
The Fans
The San Bernardino Valley college baseball team is made up of talented young men who hope to one day turn their skills into a successful career in professional baseball The team’s roster includes players from all over the country, each with their own unique story of how they came to SBVC.
