David William Reid was born on December 11th, 1964, in Timmins, Ontario. When Dave was just five years old, his family moved to Elliot Lake where he would grow up and develop his passion for hockey. Dave started skating when he was three years old on the outdoor rink his dad built in their backyard and by the time he was five, he was playing organized hockey. When asked about his early days in hockey, Dave recalls: “Those were the best times of my life. I loved every minute of it.”

Dave quickly developed into a star player and by the age of eight, he was playing against ten and eleven-year-olds. At fourteen, he made the junior “B” team – the youngest player on the team. The following year, he played junior “A” and was again the youngest player In his final year of Junior hockey Dave led his team to the playoffs where they eventually lost in the semi-finals.

Dave Reid was born in Kingston, Ontario, on March 28, 1964. He played his junior hockey with the Kingston Canadians of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), winning the Memorial Cup in 1982. Reid was drafted 37th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft He made his NHL debut during the 1984–85 season. The following year, 1985–86, he scored 38 goals and 74 points, both career highs, and was a Second Team All-Star.

Dave Reid is a hockey legend. He played for the Chicago Blackhawks for 12 seasons, serving as captain for six of those years. He was known for his hard-nosed style of play and his leadership on and off the ice. After retirement, he became a successful broadcaster and analyst.

Reid was born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1962. He began his Junior Hockey career with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He was drafted by the Blackhawks in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft and he made his debut with the team during the 1981-82 season.

Reid quickly established himself as one of the Blackhawks’ best players. He was a key member of the team’s “Cinderella” run to the Stanley Cup Final in 1992, scoring 12 goals and adding 15 assists during the playoffs. He retired after the 1993-94 season, having scored 147 goals and adding 217 assists during his time with the Blackhawks.

After retirement, Reid became a popular analyst on Hockey Night in Canada. He also worked as a color commentator for Chicago Blackhawks games on Comcast SportsNet Chicago. In 2014, he was inducted into the Chicago Sports Hall of Fame

Dave Reid is a retired Canadian professional Ice hockey player who played 12 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted in the sixth round 118th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft Reid played 1,032 games in the NHL, scoring 259 goals and 419 assists for 678 points. He also played in 83 Playoff Games scoring 19 goals and 35 assists for 54 points.

Reid began his NHL career with the Sabres in the 1984–85 season. He played four seasons with Buffalo before being traded to the Washington Capitals in 1988. He played eight seasons with the Capitals, serving as team captain for three seasons. Reid was part of Washington’s Stanley Cup winning team in 1998. He retired from playing professional ice hockey following the 1999–2000 season.

He played his Junior hockey with the Medicine Hat Tigers before he was drafted in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers He played 12 seasons in the NHL, 10 of them with the Oilers. He was a member of two Stanley Cup winning teams with Edmonton, in 1987 and 1988. He scored the game-winning goal in Game 5 of the 1987 Stanley Cup Finals against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Dave Reid was born in Sudbury, Ontario, on February 23, 1967. He played Junior hockey for the Kingston Canadians of the Ontario Hockey League Dave was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft and he would go on to play parts of eleven seasons with the Flames.

A hard-working winger, Dave was a key contributor to the Flames’ Stanley Cup run in 1989, scoring seven goals and adding ten assists in 22 playoff games. He also played a key role in the Flames’ run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2004, scoring five goals and adding six assists in 26 playoff games.

Dave Reid retired from playing hockey in 1997, but he remains involved with the game as a coach and development consultant with several NHL Teams He currently resides in Calgary with his wife and two children.

Reid was known for his physical play and fighting ability, as well as his scoring touch. In his NHL career he tallied 524 points (236 goals, 288 assists) in 894 games. He also appeared in 62 playoff games, tallying 27 points (10 goals, 17 assists).

Reid was a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Stanley Cup winning team in 1993. He also represented Canada at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France, where he won a silver medal.

Following his retirement from hockey in 2001, Reid became involved in coaching and scouting. He served as an Assistant Coach for the minor league Chicago Wolves for two seasons before being named Head Coach of the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings in 2006. He led the Wings to the playoffs in his only season as head coach before moving on to become a scout for the Blackhawks.

Reid passed away on March 6th, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He was just 52 years old.

Dave Reid will be remembered not only for his accomplishments on the ice but also for his kindheartedness and generosity off it. He was a true legend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him
