In just his fourth season as the head coach of the Daytona State College men’s basketball team Steve Rezabek has established himself as one of the top coaches in the country. His team has a record of 29-4 and won the Mid-Florida Conference regular season championship.
Rezabek, who played college basketball at Virginia Commonwealth University has been coaching since he graduated in 1992. He has coached at the High School AAU and Junior College levels. Rezabek took over the Daytona State program in 2011, when the team was coming off a 5-22 season.
In his first season, Rezabek led the team to a 19-11 record and a berth in the NJCAA Region 8 tournament. The following year, the team went 28-6 and won the Mid-Florida conference tournament title. Last season, Daytona State finished 26-8 and reached the NJCAA Region 8 semifinals.
