Derek Culver is a 6’10” power forward/center from the University of Pittsburgh. He just completed his sophomore year, and he has alreadydeclared for the 2020 NBA draft He was named to the All-ACC Second Team and was an honorable mention for the All-American Team He averaged 16.5 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game He is expected to be a lottery pick in the upcoming draft.

In the 2020 NBA Draft one player that has been getting a lot of attention is Derek Culver. Culver, who played his college basketball at West Virginia University, is a 6’10” center that is known for his rebounding ability. He is also a very good defender and has shown the ability to score in the post. In his two years at West Virginia Culver averaged 10.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
Culver started to gain national attention after his strong performance in the 2019 NCAA tournament In the first round of the tournament, he had a double-double against Murray State with 12 points and 11 rebounds. He followed that up with a 15 point, 12 rebound performance against Syracuse in the Sweet Sixteen Against Duke in the Elite Eight, Culver had another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds as West Virginia lost a close game by a score of 69-67.
Culver’s strong showing in the NCAA Tournament led to him being named to the All-Tournament team. He was also named to the Second Team All-Big 12 as well as the Big 12 All-Defensive team
After declaration for the 2020 NBA draft mock drafts have had him going anywhere from late first round to early second round. ESPN’s Jonathan Givony has him going 29th overall to the Toronto Raptors in his most recent Mock Draft while CBS Sports has him going 45th overall to the Charlotte Hornets It will be interesting to see where Derek Culver ends up being drafted on November 18th but it is safe to say that he has raised his stock over the past few months and will be an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on moving forward.

“Culver is a big body with good strength and athleticism,” said one scout. “He’s got a nice touch around the basket and is active on the glass. He’s still raw offensively, but he has the tools to develop into a solid rotation player.”
Another scout added: “Culver is a tough kid with a high motor. He needs to continue to work on his outside shot, but he has the potential to be a solid role player at the next level.”
While his draft stock may fluctuate over the next few months, one thing is clear: Derek Culver is an NBA prospect on the rise.

A lot has been made of Derek Culver’s potential as an NBA player He has all the physical tools to be a successful player at the next level. He is big, strong, and athletic. He has a high level of basketball IQ and is a good shooter. All of these things make him an intriguing prospect for NBA Teams
The biggest question with Derek Culver is whether or not he can stay healthy. He has had trouble staying healthy throughout his career. If he can stay healthy, he has a chance to be a very good NBA player If he cannot stay healthy, his career will likely be shortened.
Only time will tell what kind of NBA Player Derek Culver will be. But he has the potential to be a very good one if everything goes right for him.

Middleton, Wisconsin native Derek Culver is quickly making a name for himself in college basketball After a strong freshman year at West Virginia University in which he averaged 10 points and 9 rebounds per game, many are beginning to project Culver as a potential first-Round Draft pick in the upcoming NBA Draft
At 6-foot-10 and 240 pounds, Culver has good size for an NBA big man. He’s also shown himself to be an excellent rebounder at the collegiate level, averaging nearly 10 boards per game last season. With his combination of size and rebounding ability, there’s a good chance that Culver will be able to make an impact at the next level.
In addition to his physical tools, Culver also has a High Basketball IQ and is a strong passer for his position. These skills should serve him well as he makes the jump to the professional ranks.
It will be interesting to see where Derek Culver’s stock stands at the end of the pre-draft process. Right now, he looks like a solid second rounder but it wouldn’t be surprising if he ends up going in the first round on draft night.

As we approach the end of the college Basketball season one player that has seen his stock steadily rise is Derek Culver of West Virginia A 6’10” power forward Culver has put up very solid numbers as a sophomore, averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds per game. He’s also shown marked improvement from his freshman year in several areas, most notably his Three-point shooting After shooting just 16 percent from beyond the arc last season, Culver is up to 32 percent this year.
Culver’s improved play has helped West Virginia to a 22-9 record and a #15 ranking in the latest AP poll. They are currently projected to be a 4-seed in the NCAA tournament
While he is not yet considered a Fire NBA prospect, Culver has certainly put himself on the radar of NBA scouts with his play this season. He is probably still a few years away from being ready to contribute at the NBA level, but he has definitely shown that he has the potential to be a very good player at that level down the road.

In Derek Culver’s junior year of college, the 6-foot-10 center averaged 17.5 points, 10.4 rebounds and shot nearly 53 percent from the field for West Virginia He was named to the All-Big 12 first team and helped lead the Mountaineers to a share of the conference regular season title.
Culver entered his name in the 2020 NBA Draft but did not hire an agent, giving him the option to return to school for his senior year. He ultimately decided to stay in school and try to improve his draft stock.
Culver is a physical presence in the post with a wide body and long arms. He’s an outstanding rebounder, averaging 2.3 offensive rebounds per game last season. He’s also a good finisher around the basket, converting 64 percent of his shots inside of the three-point line
One area of concern for Culver is his outside shooting. He made just 13 percent of his three-point attempts last season and has not shown much improvement in that area throughout his college career. If he can develop a consistent jumper, he has a chance to be a productive player at the next level.

Standing 6’10” and weighing in at 260 pounds, Derek Culver is a physical presence in the paint. He averaged 16.1 points and 10 rebounds per game as a sophomore last season, leading the Mountaineers to a 21-13 record and a berth in the NCAA tournament
Although he lacks explosiveness and is not a great leaper, Culver uses his big frame to muscle his way to the hoop and finish through contact. He also has soft hands and is an excellent rebounder, especially on the offensive end where he can tip balls to himself or teammates for easy put-backs.
Culver needs to improve his conditioning and footwork if he wants to be an effective player at the next level, but there is no doubt that he has the potential to be a solid rotation player in the NBA. He will likely be drafted in the second round of the upcoming draft.

Culver is considered one of the best rebounders in the country and has shown improvement in his all-around game each year he has been at WVU. He is expected to declare for the NBA draft after this season and is projected to be a late first or early second round pick.
