The Detroit Mercy Titans men’s Basketball team is composed of 12 talented players from all around the world. Get to know the players that make up the team!

Tomas Murphy: A 6’11” forward from Dublin, Ireland, Tomas is a freshman at Detroit Mercy He previously played for Colaiste Eanna High School where he was named MVP of his team.

Chris Jenkins: A 6’8″ forward from Toronto, Canada, Chris is also a freshman at Detroit Mercy He played for Northern Secondary School, where he was named captain of his team.

Taylon Koroma: A 6’7″ guard/forward from Mississauga, Canada, Taylon is in his sophomore year at Detroit Mercy. He previously played for Creditview public school and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Secondary School.

Kameron Chatman: A 6’7″ small forward from Tacoma, Washington, Kameron is a junior at Detroit Mercy. He played AAU Basketball for Seattle Rotary Style and was named MVP of his team.

The Coaches

Detroit Mercy Basketball is led by Head Coach Mike Davis Davis took over the program in 2018 after former head coach Ray McCallum was let go. He has led the team to a 20-13 record in his first season.

Associate Head Coach Steve Snell is in his first season with the Titans. He came to Detroit Mercy after serving as an Assistant Coach at Oakland University for four seasons.

Assistant coaches Jermaine Jackson and Doug Bruno round out the Coaching Staff Jackson is in his first season with Detroit Mercy, while Bruno is in his second.

Nov. 10 vs. Oakland: The Titans open their season at home against Oakland. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since Oakland joined the Horizon League

Nov. 12 vs. Detroit: The Titans’ first big test of the season comes against in-state rival Detroit. The Titans have won four of the last five meetings between the two schools, but Detroit will be looking for revenge after losing to Detroit Mercy in the Horizon League tournament semifinals last season.

Dec. 2 vs. Louisville: The Titans will host Louisville in a rematch of last year’s NCAA Tournament game. This will be the first time Louisville has played at Calihan Hall since 2013, when they defeated Michigan State in a thrilling overtime game.

Feb. 28 vs. Wright State The Titans close out their regular season against Wright State one of their biggest rivals in the Horizon League The Titans have won eight of the last 10 meetings between the two schools, but Wright State will be looking to exact some revenge after losing to Detroit Mercy in the Horizon League Tournament Championship game last season.

Looking Ahead to Next Season

As we look ahead to next season, there are a few things to get excited about. First and foremost, the Detroit Mercy Titans Basketball team will be returning a majority of their core rotation from last season. This includes guards Jarred Layman and Corey Allen, who will both be seniors next year. In the frontcourt, juniors Johnnie Vassar and Josh McFolley will provide a nice mix of experience and athleticism.
