The Battle of Manitoba
The Battle of Manitoba is an annual series of games between the Winnipeg Jets and the Minnesota Wild two professional Ice Hockey teams based in the Canadian province of Manitoba and the American state of Minnesota, respectively. The series derives its name from the fact that both teams are located in proximity to the border between Canada and the United States
The Battle of Manitoba began in earnest during the 2015-16 NHL season when the Jets and Wild both qualified for the Stanley Cup playoffs. The two teams met in the first round, with Winnipeg winning in seven games. In doing so, they became the first Canadian team to eliminate an American Team from the playoffs in 18 years.
The rivalry was further stoked during the 2016-17 season when the Jets and Wild once again met in the playoffs. This time, it was Minnesota who came out on top, winning in five games.
With both teams playing well this season, it’s looking like we could be in for another thrilling installment of the Battle of Manitoba. Check out the schedule below to see when these two fierce rivals will be facing off against each other!
