The Team’s History

The FGCU Hockey Team is a relatively new team, having only been founded in 2011. Nevertheless, the team has already made a name for itself, winning back-to-back regular season championships in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. The team plays its home games at the Germain Arena in Estero, Florida.

The team is currently a Division I Independent school, meaning that they do not belong to any conference. However, they have recently been in talks to join the Sunshine State Conference (SSC), which would make them the first Division I Hockey Program in Florida.

The Florida Gulf Coast University Hockey Team is in its third season as a Division 1 NCAA team. The team has had great success so far in its young history, making it to the NCAA Division 1 National Tournament in their first season and again in their second season. The team made it to the Frozen Four in their second season, ultimately losing to the University of Minnesota in the semifinals. The team is coached by Bob Hoffman, who has been with the program since its inception.
