John Calipari
Former Kentucky Wildcats Head Coach John Calipari has been named the new head basketball coach at Fordham University, the school announced on Tuesday.
Calipari, 60, replaces Jeff Neiburg, who was fired earlier this month after four seasons.

Tom Izzo, the former head coach of the Detroit Pistons has been named the new head basketball coach of Fordham University. Izzo will take over a Fordham team that has struggled in recent years going 10-21 last season and firing head coach Jeff Neubauer midway through the year.
Izzo is a well-respected figure in the Basketball World and he should be able to bring some much-needed stability to a Fordham program that has been in flux in recent years Izzo inherits a Fordham team that does have some talent, including freshman guard Eric Paschall, who was recently named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year. With Izzo at the helm, Fordham should be a better team next season, and they will look to make a push for an NCAA Tournament berth.
Bill Self
On Monday, Fordham University announced that Bill Self would be its new men’s basketball coach Self, who coached at the University of Kansas for fifteen years, will be taking over a Fordham team that went 2-26 last season.
“We are thrilled to have Bill Self join the Fordham family,” said Fordham athletic director Dave Roach in a statement. “His credentials are impeccable, and we are confident he will quickly turn our Basketball Program around.”

This came as a surprise to many, as Pitino had just been fired from the University of Louisville two days prior. Regardless, the hire is a big coup for Fordham, as Pitino is one of the most successful coaches in NCAA history.
Pitino has been coaching college basketball since 1974, and has an impressive resume that includes a National Championship with Kentucky in 1996, seven Final Four appearances, and numerous conference championships In his 41 years of coaching, Pitino has amassed a career record of776-271 (.741). He is also the only coach in NCAA history to lead three different schools to the Final Four (Providence in 1987, Kentucky in 1996, and Louisville in 2005 and 2009).
Pitino will be tasked with turning around a Fordham program that has struggled mightily in recent years. The Rams have not made the NCAA tournament since 1992 and have only had two winning seasons since 2002. However, with Pitino at the helm, Fordham will undoubtedly be looking to make some noise in the near future.
John Thompson III
John Thompson III was named Fordham’s new head basketball coach on Monday.
Thompson III, who spent the last three seasons as head coach at Georgetown, inherits a Rams squad that went just 9-22 last year and has not made the NCAA tournament in nearly two decades.
“I am excited to welcome John Thompson III to Fordham University,” said Fordham athletic director David Roach in a statement. “He is a proven winner at the highest levels of college basketball and we are confident that he will bring a new level of success to our program.”
Thompson III will be formally introduced at a press conference on Tuesday.
Jim Boeheim
Jim Boeheim has been named Fordham’s new head Basketball Coach effective immediately. Boeheim, who has been the head coach at Syracuse University since 1976, will take over a Rams program that has struggled recently, posting a record of just 9-21 this past season.
“I am excited to welcome Jim Boeheim to Fordham as our new head men’s basketball coach ” said Fordham athletic director Dave Roach in a statement. “Coach Boeheim is a proven winner at the highest levels of College Basketball and we are confident that he will bring that success to our program.”
Boeheim, who has a career record of 1,228-502, will inherit a Fordham team that will return just four scholarship players next season. The Rams will also lose leading scorer Jon Severe, who announced last week that he will be transferring to another school.
Mike Krzyzewski
Fordham University has announced that Mike Krzyzewski will be its new men’s Basketball Coach
Coach K, as he is commonly known, is one of the most successful and decorated coaches in College Basketball history. He has led the Duke Blue Devils to five NCAA Championships and his teams have reached the Final Four a total of 11 times.
Prior to his coaching career, Coach K played basketball at the United States Military Academy where he captained the team to a National Championship in 1968. He then went on to coach at Army for five seasons before taking over at Duke in 1980.
