3. Freshman right-hander Eli Morgan (4-1, 3.38) has been Gonzaga’s number three starter, and he has pitched well as a freshman. Morgan was named honorable mention All-WCC.

The team has been a part of the West Coast Conference since 1979 and has won conference titles in 1992, 1995, 2000, 2003, 2009, 2013 and 2015. With a long and successful history, it’s no wonder that Gonzaga baseball is considered one of the best teams in the West.

The team is currently coached by Mark Machtolf who has been with the team since 2006. Machtolf has led Gonzaga to 7 conference championships and 3 NCAA tournament appearances. Under his leadership, the team has had 27 players selected in the Major League Baseball Draft, including 1st round pick Marco Gonzales in 2013.

The Gonzaga baseball roster is made up of some of the best players in the country. The team is led by senior pitcher Justin Vernia who was recently named WCC Pitcher of the Year. Vernia is joined by fellow senior Alec James who was also named to the All-WCC first team. On offense, the team is led by slugger Jake Byrne who hit 13 home runs this season. Pitcher Mark Prior was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2001 and went on to play for the San Diego Padres and New York Yankees He was an All-Star in 2003 and won a World Series with the Yankees in 2009.

Pitcher Cole Hamels was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2002 and quickly became one of their best pitchers. He was an All-Star in 2007 and 2008, won a World Series with the Phillies in 2008, and was named MVP of the Series. He now plays for the Texas Rangers

Outfielder Matt Kemp was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2003 and made his Major League debut in 2006. He was an All-Star in 2009, 2010, and 2011, won a Silver Slugger Award in 2009, and finished second in National League MVP voting in 2011. He now plays for the San Diego Padres

The Gonzaga Baseball Team is a NCAA Division I college baseball program that represents Gonzaga University in the West Coast Conference The Bulldogs play their home games at Patterson Baseball Complex on the university campus in Spokane, Washington.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs Baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball team of Gonzaga University, located in Spokane, Washington, United States The team competes in the West Coast Conference and plays its home games at Patterson Baseball Complex on campus.
