Harris Stowe State University has had 10 head coaches in its 44-year history. The current Head Coach is Chris Widger, who was hired prior to the 2013 season.
The Hornets have appeared in one NCAA Division II College World Series in 1980. They have also appeared in five NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournaments, with their most recent appearance coming in 2017.
The Team
The Harris Stowe State University baseball team is a Division II level team that competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). The Schedule
Harris Stowe State University will play a total of 56 games in the 2019 season. Their first game is on February 1st against Lincoln University (PA) at Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals The last game of the regular season is on May 11th against Fontbonne University. After that, they will compete in the American Midwest conference tournament which runs from May 16-19. If they win that, they will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament.
The Fans
The Harris Stowe State University baseball team has a great fan base. The fans are passionate and supportive, and they love to come out to the games to cheer on the team. The History
Harris-Stowe State University located in midtown St. Louis, Missouri, is a public, historically black university that is a member institution of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. The school was founded in 1857 as the first higher education institution west of the Mississippi River that was open to African Americans. In 1929, the institution was renamed Harris-Stowe Teachers College in honor of two of its most prominent educators: William Torrey Harris, who served as the first commissioner of education for the State of Missouri and as superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools; and George H. Stowe, who succeeded Harris as superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools. The school became Harris-Stowe State College in 2005 and achieved university status in 2013.
