The Holy Cross basketball team is made up of talented student-athletes who are committed to excellence on the court and in the classroom. This year’s roster includes players from all over the country, who bring a wealth of experience and skill to the team. Get to know the 2020-2021 Holy Cross Basketball team

#1 Damian Washington – Guard
Damian is a junior guard from Queens, NY. He is a talented scorer who can shoot from anywhere on the court. Damian is also a great defender, and he uses his quickness to create turnovers.

#2 Josh Taylor – Guard
Josh is a sophomore guard from Los Angeles CA. He is a gifted playmaker with great vision. Josh is also an excellent shooter, and he has the ability to knock down long-range shots.

#3 Khalil Robinson – Forward
Khalil is a freshman forward from Philadelphia, PA. He is a versatile player who can score inside and out. Khalil is also a good rebounder, and he uses his athleticism to make plays on both ends of the court.

#4 Luke Appel – Forward
Luke is a senior forward from Springville, UT. He is a hard-working player who brings leadership and experience to the team. Luke is also a skilled shooter, and he has the ability to stretch the defense with his long-range shooting.

#5 Nate Laszewski – Forward
Nate is a sophomore forward from Northbrook, IL. He is an excellent shooter with great size and length. Nate is also a good rebounder, and he uses his size to fight for position in the paint.

Meet the Guards

The Holy Cross men’s basketball team is composed of 12 student-athletes, 4 of which are guards. Get to know the team’s guards below.

Sophomore Nate Laszewski is a 6’10” guard from Northbrook, Illinois. He averaged 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season.

Junior Austin Butler is a 6’7” guard from Portland, Oregon. He averaged 8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game last season.

Senior captain Jehyve Floyd is a 6’5” guard from Worcester, Massachusetts. He averaged 7 points and 3 rebounds per game last season.

Meet the Forwards

The Forwards on the Holy Cross Basketball team play a crucial role in the team’s success. They are responsible for scoring points and Playing Defense The Forwards on the Holy Cross basketball team are:

· Ben Bentil – Ben is a sophomore from Manchester, England. He is 6’9” tall and weighs 240 pounds. Bentil was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year last season. He averaged 15.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

· Malachi Alexander – Malachi is a sophomore from Queens, NY. He is 6’7” tall and weighs 215 pounds. Alexander averaged 8.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game last season.

· Rodney Bullock – Rodney is a sophomore from Hampton, VA. He is 6’7” tall and weighs 225 pounds. Bullock was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team last season after averaging 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game

Guard Ryan Oberle is a junior from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a versatile player who can shoot and drive to the basket. Oberle averaged 11 points per game last season and is expected to be one of the team’s leading scorers this year.

Forward Nate Bohannan is a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a strong inside player who is a good rebounder and shot blocker. Bohannan averaged 8 points and 6 rebounds per game last season. He will be a key player for the team in both offensively and defensively.

Center Malachi Alexander is a sophomore from Baltimore, Maryland. He is a tall, athletic player who can run and jump well. Alexander averaged 7 points and 5 rebounds per game last season. He is expected to be one of the team’s Top Players this year.

This season, the Holy Cross basketball team will have four newcomers on the roster. Here is a look at the new faces that will be hitting the court for the Crusaders this year:

Guards
-Ricky Torres is a 5-11 guard from Reading, Pennsylvania. He was a four-year starter in High School and helped lead his team to the state semifinals as a senior.
-Justin Milner is a 6-2 guard from San Antonio Texas. He was a two-time all-district selection in high school and averaged 13 points per game as a senior.

Forwards
-Jared Simmons is a 6-7 forward from Detroit, Michigan. He was a three-year starter in high school and averaged 15 points and eight rebounds per game as a senior.
-Trey Wertz is a 6-5 forward from Charlotte, North Carolina He was named all-conference as a junior and senior in high school and averaged 17 points per game as a senior.

The Team’s Record

The team’s current record is 5-5.

The Holy Cross basketball team is a force to be reckoned with! They are currently 5-5 and show no signs of slowing down. With an impressive lineup of players, the team is looking to take their game to the next level.

The Team’s Rivalries

The Holy Cross Basketball team has many rivals, both in their conference and out. Among their conference rivals, the most heated rivalry is undoubtedly with the Georgetown Hoyas The two teams have been meeting on the hardwood since the early 1900s, and the rivalry was only intensified when they both joined the Big East Conference in 2005. Outside of their conference, the team’s fiercest rival is probably the Army Black Knights The two teams have been playing each other since 1895, and they usually meet at least once a year (usually in late December). The Holy Cross Army game is also known as “The Crusade”, and it is one of the most highly-anticipated games on both team’s schedules.

The Team’s Fans

The Holy Cross Basketball team’s fans are some of the most passionate in the country. They travel well and support the team through thick and thin. They are truly a special group of people.
