Since their founding in 1968, the IHCC Baseball Team has been on the rise, becoming one of the premier junior college programs in the country.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Steve Lewis, the IHCC baseball team has won seven conference championships and made seven trips to the NJCAA Division II World Series including a runner-up finish in 2009.

The IHCC baseball team has also produced numerous Major League Baseball draft picks and several All-Americans.

With a strong tradition of success, the IHCC Baseball Team is poised for continued success in the years to come.

On February 1st, the IHCC Baseball team will take the field for the first time this season. The team is coming off of a very successful 2018 campaign in which they finished with a record of 39-19 and made it to the NJCAA World Series This year, the team is looking to build on that success and make another run at a National Championship

The team is led by head coach Steve Clark, who is entering his sixth season at the helm of the program. Coach Clark has been instrumental in turning IHCC into one of the top junior college baseball programs in the country. Under his guidance, the team has won four conference championships and made four trips to the World Series

This year’s team is loaded with talent, both on the mound and at the plate. The pitching staff is anchored by ace Reece DeVries, who was recently named Pre-Season All-American by perfect game USA. The offense will be led by returning All-Americans Austin Flanagan and Nate Pohlman.

The team has also gained attention from members of the community who previously didn’t show much interest in baseball. Now, these fans can be seen sporting IHCC gear and cheering on the team at every game.

The increase in popularity can be attributed to the team’s on-field success as well as their off-field contributions to the community. The team often participates in charity events and local youth programs, which has endeared them to many people.

The Itawamba Indians have been on a tear lately. They have won 12 of their last 15 games and are currently ranked 6th in the NJCAA polls. This recent success has not come without its fair share of controversy though. The Indians have been accused of cheating by using performance-enhancing drugs which has led to many heated exchanges between the team and its opponents.

The most recent instance occurred during a game against Hinds Community College After Itawamba pitcher Jacob Stephens struck out the side in the top of the ninth inning to seal the victory, Hinds catcher Johnathan Martin angrily threw his bat and helmet down and had to be restrained by his teammates. Martin was later ejected from the game.

Itawamba Head Coach Gabe Hernandez did not take kindly to Martin’s actions, and he had some choice words for him after the game. “He’s a cheater,” said Hernandez of Martin. “He’s a disgrace to this game.”

The bad blood between these two teams is nothing new, as they have been engaged in a bitter rivalry for many years. This latest incident is just another example of how intense this rivalry has become.

IHCC Baseball: A Team on the Rise- The Memories

It’s been awhile since I’ve written anything for the sports section. Mostly because there hasn’t been much to write about, but that changed this past season with the IHCC baseball team It was a season of firsts for the team and for me as a sports writer I was able to follow the team from start to finish, and it was an incredible ride.

The season started off with high hopes, but the team got off to a rocky start. They lost their first game and then proceeded to lose their next four games. It wasn’t looking good, but the team didn’t give up. They turned things around and went on an eight-game Winning Streak

The team finished the regular season with a record of 24-14, which was good enough for second place in conference and a spot in the Region XI tournament. The tournament didn’t start off well for the team as they lost their first game, but they bounced back and won their next three games to make it to the Championship game Unfortunately, they lost the Championship game but it was an amazing run nonetheless.

It was a great season for the team, and I’m already looking forward to next season. Thanks for following along!

Iowa Hawkeye Community College (IHCC) baseball has a long and successful history. IHCC baseball first took the field in 1968, and since then, have built an impressive resume that includes 15 NJCAA Division II World Series appearances, 19 conference championships, and 23 region titles. The program has produced numerous Major League Baseball (MLB) players, such as San Francisco Giants slugger Willie Mccovey Boston Red Sox All-Star outfielder Dwight Evans New York Yankees reliever Mariano Rivera and Seattle Mariners outfielder Jay Buhner. IHCC is also one of only two Community College programs in the country to have produced two USA Olympians (Ron Pruitt and Brad Wilkerson). former IHCC baseball players have gone on to have success at all levels of baseball, including coaching at the High School collegiate, and professional levels. Under the guidance of head coach Curt Blefary, the IHCC Baseball Program has developed into one of the top programs in the country. Coach Blefary has led the team to new heights, including 5 NJCAA Division II World Series appearances and 3 conference championships since taking over in 2006. The program has also produced 28 All-Americans and 67 all-conference players under his tenure. With a rich history and a bright future IHCC baseball is a team on the rise.

IHCC baseball is a team on the rise. The Pride have lofty goals and expect to be in the thick of things come conference tournament time. IHCC is led by a strong core of returning sophomores, many of whom have starting experience under their belts. With a year of experience under their belts, this group is poised to take the next step and contend for a conference title.

IHCC will look to Sophomore Andrew Winters to lead the way on the mound. Winters was solid as a freshman, posting a 3.86 ERA in 59 innings pitched He will be joined in the rotation by Sophomores Blake Heller and Ryan Butts, who both saw significant action as freshmen. The Pride bullpen will be anchored by Sophomore All-Conference closer Levi Geihl, who had 11 saves last season.

Offensively, IHCC will be dangerous once again. The Pride return their 3-4-5 hitters from last season in senior slugger Alex Heisey, junior speedster Tanner Reimers, and sophomore RBI machine Ty McKinney. IHCC will also benefit from the return of senior leadership in the form of infielder Sam Huffman and outfielder Kaleb Knott.
