Under Head Coach Jerry Pettibone, the Warriors won five consecutive conference championships from 1974 to 1978, and also claimed the 1977 NJCAA Division I National Championship Indian Hills compiled a 97-11 record during that span, and featured several future Division I standouts, including Mike Cunningham (Indiana) and Curtis Watkins (Iowa State).

The 1980s – a decade of dominance

In the 1990s, Indian Hills enjoyed continued success, winning seven conference titles and making seven appearances in the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship The Falcons were conference champions in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997 and 1998. They made trips to the National Tournament in 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997 and 1998. In 1994 and 1998, the Falcons finished as national runners-up.

The new millennium – a new era of success

Led by Head Coach Ray Harper, the Braves have established themselves as one of the premier programs in the country. In his ten seasons at Indian Hills, Harper has compiled a record of 261-52 (.832), making him the winningest coach in school history. His teams have averaged 25 wins per season, and he has led the Braves to nine 30-win seasons.

Under Harper’s leadership, Indian Hills has produced numerous All-Americans and professional players. In addition, the team has been honored with numerous academic and community service awards.

The 2020s have seen a new decade of success for the Indian Hills Basketball team The team has won two state championships in the last three years and is currently ranked No. 1 in the state. In addition to their on-court success, the team has also been recognized for their community service and academic achievements.

The Indian Hills basketball team was founded in 1967, and since then, the team has won eight State Championships and been to the playoffs 26 times. The team is currently coached by Steve Johnson who is in his fourth year with the team. Coach Johnson has led the team to two State Championships and has a career record of 91-17.

The team has worked with various organizations over the years including Habitat for Humanity, The Boys & Girls Club and Best Buddies. Indian Hills Basketball – a tradition of success

Indian Hills Community College has a long tradition of success in basketball. The Warriors have won eleven NJCAA Division I National Championships, more than any other team in the nation. They have also won twenty-five conference championships and made thirty-seven appearances in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament

The Warriors have produced numerous NBA players including three-time NBA All-Star and two-Ime Nba champion Anthony Davis Other notable NBA players who began their careers at Indian Hills include four-time NBA All-Star Paul Millsap, eight-time NBA All-Star Reggie Miller and three-time NBA Champion Kevin Durant Durant was named the National Player of the Year in 2006 after leading Indian Hills to a perfect 32-0 record and the NJCAA Division I National Championship

Indian Hills has also produced many successful coaches, including current Oklahoma City Thunder Head coach Billy Donovan and former Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson Jackson is one of only two coaches in NBA history to win eleven championships, and he did it with two different teams – the Bulls and Lakers.

The program has won 31 conference championships and 3 NJCAA Division I National Championships, solidifying their place among the nation’s elite. Indian Hills has also produced a number of NBA players including Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman

The success of Indian Hills Basketball can be traced back to the early years of the program. Under head coach Jerry Petty, the Warriors won 12 conference championships and made 6 trips to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. Coach Petty also led Indian Hills to their first ever National Championship in 1976.

Since those early days, Indian Hills has continued to field competitive teams year after year. In recent years the Warriors have seen a resurgence under head coach Hank Plona, winning 3 conference championships and making 2 trips to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. In 2017, Indian Hills captured their first ever National Championship in dramatic fashion, coming from behind to beat Hutchinson Community College in the title game.

With a rich history of success, there is no doubt that Indian Hills Basketball is a program on the rise. For over 50 years, the Warriors have been among the nation’s best, and there is no reason to think that will change any time soon.
