The James Madison Dukes men’s Basketball team is set to have an exciting 2020-2021 Season The team is young and has a lot of potential. Here is a look at the roster for this upcoming season
-Matt Lewis: A junior guard who is one of the team’s leading scorers. He is a versatile player who can shoot from long range and drive to the basket.
-Devin Carter: A sophomore guard who is a good defender and can also score. He will be counted on to provide leadership on and off the court.
-Jalen Stith: A freshman guard who is a promising shooter. He will be given the opportunity to contribute right away.
-Richard Carey: A junior forward who is a strong rebounder and shooter. He will be counted on to provide scoring and rebounding in the frontcourt.
-Tyler Holmes: A freshman forward who is a good athlete with the ability to shoot from long range. He will add depth to the frontcourt rotation.

#1) Returning starter, shooting guard Pete Nance is a pivotal player for the team. Averaging 12 points per game last season, he is a three-point threat that will open up the offense for his teammates.
#2) Center Mike Daum is another returning starter who is coming off of a strong season. Averaging 10 points and eight rebounds per game he is a force in the paint and will be counted on to anchor the defense.
#3) Guard/forward Anthony Cowan Jr. is a versatile player that can score, rebound, and dish out assists. He averaged nine points and five rebounds per game last season and will be looked to for leadership on the court.

For James Madison University, there are some fresh faces joining the team that fans will want to keep an eye on. Here’s a quick guide to the newcomers on this year’s roster:
Guard Matt Lewis comes to JMU from Virginia Tech where he was a key player for the Hokies. He’ll be looking to make an impact on both ends of the court for the Dukes.
Forward Sam Iorio is another Virginia transfer who will be looking to make an impact in his first season with JMU. At 6’7″, he has the size and athleticism to be a difference-maker on both ends of the court.

The Dukes began their season with a thrilling overtime win against George Mason Sophomore guard Matt Lewis led the way with 27 points, including the game-winning layup in overtime.
In their next game, James Madison battled back from a 12-point deficit to beat Towson on the road. This was a total team effort, with five players scoring in double figures. Senior guard Stuckey Mosley had 19 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman forward Dwight Wilson III had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
The Dukes then took care of business at home against Hofstra, winning 80-68. Senior forward Yohanny Dalembert led the way with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore guard Darius Banks chipped in 16 points.

Omari is a 6’8” freshman forward from Norfolk, Virginia. He was a highly recruited player, receiving offers from several Division I schools before choosing to play for James Madison. Omari is a versatile player who can score inside and out. He is also an excellent rebounder and shot blocker.
Juanita Baker, #12
Juanita is a 5’9” sophomore guard from Richmond, Virginia. She was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Year last season after averaging 12 points per game Juanita is an explosive scorer who can shoot the three-pointer or drive to the basket. She is also a gifted passer and defender.
Roshunda Gray, #22
Roshunda is a 5’11” junior forward from Baltimore, Maryland. She was named to the CAA All-Conference Second Team last season after averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds per game. Roshunda is a strong and physical player who excels in rebounding and defense. She is also a capable scorer in the post.
