This season, the Jay County Community has high hopes for their team. Here’s a look at the coaches who will be leading them to victory.
Gary Humphrey has been coaching basketball in Jay County for over 20 years. He started his career as an Assistant Coach before taking over as head coach in 2009. Under his leadership, the Jay County basketball team has won two State Championships and consistently been ranked among the top teams in the state. Humphrey is assisted by Steve McAdams, who has been with the program for 10 years. Coach McAdams is responsible for player development and scouting opponents. He also serves as Head Coach of the Junior varsity team. Under his guidance, the junior varsity team has won two conference championships

The Rivalries
In Jay County, basketball is more than just a game – it’s a way of life. And no team embodies that more than the county’s two biggest rivals: the Jay County Patriots and the Jay County Tigers.
The rivalry between these two teams dates back to 1950, when the Patriots first joined the Tigers in the Jay County Basketball League Since then, the two teams have been locked in an intense battle for supremacy on the court.
The 2017-2018 season was no different, as both teams battled all year long for the top spot in the league. Ultimately, it was the Patriots who came out on top, winning the league title with a record of 13-1.
But while they may have lost on the court, the Tigers can take solace in knowing that they still hold one important distinction: they are the only team to ever beat the Patriots in a Playoff Game That occurred back in 2015, when the Tigers pulled off a stunning upset victory over their rivals en route to winning the state championship
So while both teams will be gunning for each other next season, there’s no doubt that their rivalry will continue to be one of the most intense and hotly contested in all of Jay County.
