Johnson & Wales Baseball: A Program on the Rise
Johnson & Wales University’s baseball program is on the rise. The team has seen a dramatic turnaround in recent years and is poised to contend for conference and national titles in the near future.
Head coach Jim Crowley has instilled a culture of winning, and the Wildcats have responded by posting winning records in each of the past four seasons. Johnson & Wales has also reached the conference tournament in three of those four years, and won the conference championship in 2016.
The Wildcats have a talented core of players, led by senior pitcher Mikey Gangarosa. Gangarosa was named Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2016, and is a two-time All-American. He will be joined by fellow seniors Jake Fraley and Matt Ferrara, who are both All-Conference caliber players.
Johnson & Wales will open its 2018 season on February 23rd with a four-game series against nationally-ranked Marietta College. The Wildcats will look to continue their ascent up the ranks of Collegiate Baseball and cement their place among the nation’s elite programs.
