Kenton Perkins is a former professional basketball player who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003. He played for the Boston Celtics from 1951 to 1957, winning three NBA championships Perkins was also a two-time All-Star and was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 1955. He was a two-time All-American and is widely considered one of the best players in ASU history. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 1986 Pacific-10 conference tournament and was a two-time Pac-10 Player of the Year. Perkins finished his career as ASU’s all-time leading scorer with 2,453 points. After graduating from college, Perkins was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the 1974 NBA draft He played for the Celtics for two seasons before being traded to the Detroit Pistons in 1976. Perkins spent four seasons with the Pistons before retiring from basketball in 1980.
During his NBA Career Perkins averaged 14 points and 6 rebounds per game He was also named to the NBA All-Star team in 1977.
Since retiring from basketball, Perkins has been inducted into the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame and the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame His jersey number is also retired by both Central high school and the University of Kentucky

After graduating from Duke, Kenton Perkins joined the NBA and was drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the third overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft He went on to have a successful career with the Bulls, winning two NBA championships and being named an All-Star in 2006.
