Klein Oak baseball has a long and unique history. The program was founded in 2001 by former Major League player and manager, Steve Stirling. Stirling had a distinguished career in baseball, both as a player and a manager. He played for the New York Yankees the Montreal Expos and the Chicago White Sox He also managed the Yankees, the Expos, and the Florida Marlins. After his playing and coaching career ended, Stirling became a baseball scout
In 2001, Stirling was living in The Woodlands, Texas and working as a scout for the Houston Astros He saw an opportunity to start a baseball program at Klein Oak High School Klein Oak was a new school that had just opened its doors in 2000. The school was located in an area that was rapidly growing. Families were moving to The Woodlands to escape the traffic and congestion of Houston. Stirling saw that there were many young families with kids who would soon be old enough to play baseball
Stirling approached the Klein Oak administration about starting a Baseball Program They were receptive to the idea and gave Stirling the go-ahead to start the team. The first Klein Oak baseball team took the field in 2002. They played their home games at Bear Branch Sports Complex in The Woodlands. In their first season, they won nine games and lost seven.
The following year, 2003, was a special one for Klein Oak baseball. That year, they won their first district championship. They also qualified for the playoffs for the first time in school history. They lost their first Playoff Game but they made history nonetheless.
Klein Oak baseball has experienced much success since those early years. They have won six district championships and made seven appearances in the playoffs. In 2011, they made it all the way to the regional semifinals before losing to eventual state champion Cypress Ranch High School
