Series Previews
The Long Beach State Dirtbags will be looking to start their season off on a high note as they take on the UC Riverside Highlanders in a three-game set at Blair Field.
The Dirtbags are coming off a disappointing 2018 campaign in which they finished with a 23-32 record, but they will be looking to turn things around this season. The team is returning some key contributors from last year, including junior infielder Michael limoncelli and senior pitcher Darren travis.
The Highlanders are also coming off a down year, finishing with a 19-37 record. However, they will be looking to rebound this season behind the play of senior infielder Cesar Martinez and junior pitcher Cory Thompson.
This will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2017, when the Dirtbags won two out of three games. Long Beach State will be looking to continue their success against UC Riverside this weekend.
Game one of the series is scheduled for Friday, February 15th at 6:30 PM. Game two will be played on Saturday, February 16th at 2:00 PM, and game three will be played on Sunday, February 17th at 1:00 PM. All games will be played at Blair Field and tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.
Game Recaps
In its home opener on Friday, Feb. 7, Long Beach State Baseball Team hosted Boston College in a three-game series LBSU took the first game 9-4 and the second game 6-4 in 11 innings. The Dirtbags lost 5-2 in the final game of the series on Sunday.
On Tuesday, Feb. 11, LBSU hosted Seattle University for a single game that ended in an 8-8 tie after 10 innings.
The Dirtbags will be back at home this weekend, Feb. 14-16, to face BYU in a three-game series. Games are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

LBSU in the Pros
As the college baseball season gets underway, keep an eye on the Long Beach State Dirtbags This year’s team is loaded with talent, and many of the players are sure to be drafted by Major League Baseball teams in June.
But the Dirtbags aren’t just a factory for future pros. They’re also a great team to watch in their own right. Head Coach Troy Buckley has built a program that competes at the highest levels of college baseball and the Dirtbags have been to five straight NCAA regionals.

Alumni Spotlight
In this alumni spotlight, we are featuring LBSU baseball player Tyler Ervin. Tyler played for the Dirtbags from 2010-2013 and was drafted in the 16th round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros Tyler made his Major League debut in 2016 and has played for both the Astros and the San Francisco Giants

The Long Beach State 49ers Baseball Team is a NCAA Division I college Baseball team in the Big West Conference, representing California State University Long Beach The team is currently coached by third-year head coach Troy Buckley. The 49ers play their home games at Blair Field, located on the campus of Long Beach City College in Long Beach
Since beginning Division I play in 1992, the 49ers have appeared in ten NCAA Tournaments. They reached the College World Series for the first time in Program history in 2014 and again in 2015. As of the start of the 2020 season, 26 former 49ers have appeared in Major League Baseball
LBSU Baseball History
The Long Beach State 49ers baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Long Beach State University in Long Beach California, United States The team is a member of the Big West Conference which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division I. Long Beach State’s first baseball team was fielded in 1954. The team plays its home games at Blair Field, and is currently coached by Troy Buckley.
Fan Zone
The Fan Zone is the perfect place for Beach baseball fans of all ages to show their support for the team! You can find a variety of merchandise to purchase, as well as plenty of food and drink options to keep you fueled up for cheering on the Dirtbags. Check out the schedule below to see when the Fan Zone will be open during home games
-All home games The Fan Zone will open two hours before game time and close 30 minutes after the game ends
-Fireworks Night (June 29): The Fan Zone will open at 4:00 PM and close at 10:00 PM.
-Dollar Dog Night (July 27): The Fan Zone will open at 5:00 PM and close at 9:00 PM.
