Mizzou Basketball Players to Watch This Season

As the season approaches, there are a few Mizzou basketball players that are worth keeping an eye on. Here are a few of them.

Mizzou’s returning starters

Mizzou is set to return four starters from last year’s team.

Forwards Jontay Porter and Jeremiah Tilmon will lead the way for the Tigers in the frontcourt. Porter, a 6-foot-11 sophomore, averaged 9.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game as a freshman and was named to the SEC All-Freshman team. Tilmon, a 6-foot-10 sophomore, averaged 8.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game last season.

In the backcourt, Kassius Robertson and Jordan Geist will return as starters for Mizzou. Robertson, a 6-foot-3 senior, is the Tigers’ leading returning scorer after averaging 16 points per game last season. Geist, a 6-foot-4 junior, averaged 10.4 points and 3.5 assists per game last season.

Mizzou’s new additions

Mizzou’s basketball team welcomes several new members this season. fans can expect big things from these talented athletes:

forward Jaylen Johnson comes to Mizzou from Wichita State where he was part of a team that made it to the NCAA tournament’s Sweet Sixteen He brings much needed experience and leadership to the team.

guard Namon Wright joins the team after transferring from the University of California Los Angeles A Los Angeles native, he is a skilled shooter and defender.

center Jeremiah Tilmon is a top recruit from East St. Louis Illinois. At six-foot-ten, he is a force to be reckoned with on the court.

Mizzou’s bench players

The Missouri Tigers men’s Basketball team will have some fresh new talent on the court this season. Here are three bench players to keep an eye on.

Mizzou’s non-conference schedule

The Missouri Tigers start their season on November 6th against Southeast Missouri State They will then have a few days to prepare for their first big test of the season against Xavier on November 10th. The rest of their non-Conference Schedule is as follows:

Mizzou’s conference schedule

March 3, 2021 – The Eastern Conference (SEC) announced today the schedule for the 2021 Men’s Basketball Tournament The tournament will take place from March 10-14 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN.

As the No. 4 seed, Missouri will face the winner of Wednesday’s first-round matchup between No. 5 Arkansas and No. 12 Ole Miss on Thursday, March 11 at 6:00 p.m. central time on SEC Network

Missouri, who finished the regular season with an 18-8 (11-6 SEC) record, is led by junior guard Dru Smith and freshman guard Kobe Brown. Smith was recently named First Team All-SEC and is averaging 16.7 points, 4.4 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game while Brown is averaging 11.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

Mizzou’s head coach

Mizzou’s Head Coach Cuonzo Martin, has led the team to a lot of success in recent years One of the best things about his coaching style is that he’s willing to give young players a chance to prove themselves. That’s why I’m excited to see what some of the younger guys on the team can do this season. Here are a few players to keep an eye on:

All three of these guys are sophomores who saw significant playing time last season. I’m expecting big things from them this year.

Mizzou Men’s basketball team is known for their fast-paced style of play. Their game is built on running the floor and playing aggressive defense. This season, Mizzou will look to build on last year’s success with a talented group of returning players. Here are three players to keep an eye on this season:

1. Xavier Pinson, guard

Pinson is a 6-foot-2 guard who is known for his athleticism and scoring ability. He averaged 12 points per game last season and was named to the All-SEC Second Team. Pinson is also a good defender and rebounder, averaging 3.5 rebounds per game last season.

2. Mark Smith, guard

Smith is a 6-foot-4 guard who is known for his shooting ability. He shot 46 percent from three-point range last season and averaged 10 points per game Smith is also a good defender, averaging 1.5 steals per game last season.

3. Jeremiah Tilmon, center

Tilmon is a 6-foot-10 center who is known for his defensive presence in the paint. He averaged 2 blocks per game last season and collected 632 total rebounds, which was the most in the SEC. Tilmon also has a solid offensive game, averaging 11 points per game last season.

Mark Smith: As mentioned, Mark Smith is the leader of this Missouri team. The junior guard was outstanding last season, averaging 13.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He will be counted on to provide a spark on both ends of the court this season.

Javon Pickett: Pickett is a freshman guard who is expected to make an immediate impact for Missouri. He is a talented scorer and playmaker who should see significant minutes in his first collegiate season.

Jeremiah Tilmon: Tilmon is a sophomore center who showed flashes of brilliance last season as a freshman. He is an excellent rim protector and rebounder, and he should see his role increase this season with the departure of Jontay Porter to the NBA draft

Mizzou’s weaknesses

Missouri’s ability to score will be its biggest weakness this season. The graduation of Jordan Clarkson and Jabari Brown, who both averaged more than 17 Points per game leaves a big hole in the Tigers’ offense. Missouri does have some scorers returning, including freshman point guard Terrence Phillips, who will be asked to shoulder a lot of the scoring load. The Tigers will also need contributions from other players, including sophomores Kevin Puryear and K.J. Walton, who will be counted on to provide scoring and leadership.
