The core group of players includes seniors Jordan Brown and Isaiah Johnson, junior Miles Neely, and sophomores HM Osborn and Khalil Arnold. These players have formed a strong bond and have helped the team to achieve great things.

Brown, Johnson, and Neely have all been starters for Modesto Christian for two years or longer, and they have shown steady improvement during that time. Brown is a 6’11” center who is one of the best rebounders in the state. He has also developed into a good offensive player averaging 16 points per game this season. Johnson is a 6’5″ forward who is an excellent all-around player. He averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds per game this season. Neely is a 6’3″ guard who is an excellent shooter. He averaged 12 points per game this season while shooting 45% from three-point range

Osborn and Arnold are newer to the starting lineup but have made significant contributions this season. Osborn is a 6’7″ forward who has emerged as a very good shooter. He averaged 9 points per game this season while shooting 42% from three-point range. Arnold is a 6’1″ guard who provides good defense and energy off the bench. He averaged 5 points per game this season while shooting 40% from three-point range.

This group of players has helped Modesto Christian to a 27-6 record this season, including an impressive 16-2 record in league play. The team has won 13 consecutive games, and they appear to be peaking at the right time as they head into the state finals.

In its storied history, Modesto Christian High School’s boys basketball team has won five State Championships The most recent came in 2019, when the Crusaders defeated Sierra Canyon in the Division I final.

The Crusaders have had to overcome the death of head coach Jerry DeBusk, who passed away suddenly in 2016. They also had to deal with the departure of star player MJ McGhee, who left the team after his freshman year to focus on his academics.

Despite all of this, Modesto Christian has persevered and is now one win away from a state championship This is an incredible achievement for a team that has overcome so much adversity.
