What to Expect from NJIT Baseball
This season, the New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlanders are looking to build on their strong showing from last year. The team is led by Head Coach Jim Langer and assistant coaches Anthony DeVito and Chris Rooney. The squad features a mix of veteran players and talented newcomers, all of whom are eager to compete at the Division I level.
The Highlanders will open their season on February 14th with a three-game series against conference foe Stony Brook They will then hit the road for a 10-day trip that includes games against nationally-ranked programs such as Vanderbilt, Clemson, and Florida State Upon their return to New Jersey, NJIT will play a string of home games before heading back out on the road for another long trip in late March/early April. The team’s schedule is packed with tough competition, but the Highlanders are up for the challenge!

The Highlanders of NJIT have had many great rivalries throughout their years in college baseball Recently, however, one team has been a thorn in their side: the University of Connecticut
The Huskies and the Highlanders first met on the diamond in 2014, and since then, UConn has won nine of the ten games between the two teams. In fact, in the last five years, NJIT has only beaten UConn once.
This year, NJIT will have a chance to even the score against their rivals from up north when they take on the Huskies on April 27th at home in Newark. Be sure to come out and support your Highlanders!

NJIT Baseball has a long and proud history dating back to its founding in 1881. The team has won numerous championships, including the coveted National Championship in 1891. Today, the NJIT Baseball Team is a Division I NCAA team and competes in the America East Conference The team is currently coached by Jason Johnson, who has been at the helm since 2013.
Baseball at NJIT is more than just a game, it is a tradition that spans generations.
