The Huskies have put together an incredible campaign, amassing a 29-5-1 record and steamrolling their way through Hockey East en route to the conference championship They have done it all with a style of play that is both exciting and effective, and they have done it with a roster full of players who are bought in to Head Coach Jim Madigan’s system.
In short, this team is special, and they have their sights set on one thing: winning a National Championship

Goaltender Cayden Primeau
With a .931 save percentage sophomore goaltender Cayden Primeau has been a brick wall for the Huskies all season. The 19-year-old from Voorhees, New Jersey, has been tested often this year, as Northeastern leads the nation in shots on goal per game. But Primeau has been up to the task, making crucial saves in big moments and backstopping the Huskies to one of their best seasons in program history. A Montreal Canadiens draft pick Primeau will be key to Northeastern’s success as they enter the postseason.
Forward Dylan Sikura
The leading scorer for Northeastern, senior forward Dylan Sikura has had a phenomenal season. The 23-year-old from Aurora, Ontario, has racked up 50 points (16 goals, 34 assists) in 36 games. Sikura is a dynamic playmaker who can take over a game with his speed and skill. He is also a dangerous threat on the Power play with five of his 16 goals coming with the man advantage. Sikura will be counted on to provide offense for the Huskies as they pursue their first National Championship
Defenseman Jeremy Davies
One of the best defenseman in college hockey Jeremy Davies has been a workhorse for Northeastern all season. The junior from Ste-Anne-des-Plaines, Quebec, leads all Division I defenseman in goals (14) and points (38). He is also second among defensemen with 24 assists. Davies is an excellent skater and puck mover who quarterback’s Northeastern’s power play He will be key to shutting down opposing offenses and helping the Huskies advance in the tournament.

It’s been an incredible journey for the Northeastern men’s Hockey Team Led by head coach Jim Madigan and Assistant Coach Jerry Keefauver, the team has battled their way to the top, culminating in a dramatic win at the National Championship game.
Coach Madigan has been with the team for eight years, and his steady hand has guided them to new heights. He’s known for his calm demeanor and ability to get the best out of his players. assistant coach Keefauver, meanwhile, is in his fourth year with the team. He’s a passionate coach who brings a wealth of hockey knowledge to the table.
Together, these two coaches have built a championship-winning team Their hard work and dedication has paid off, and Northeastern is now national champions!
The Fans Who Supported Northeastern Men’s Hockey Along the Way
Following a disappointing loss in the Hockey East conference tournament semifinals, the Northeastern men’s Hockey Team had to quickly turn their attention to the NCAA tournament The Huskies, who had finished the regular season ranked No. 5 in the nation, were placed in the Northeast Regional and given the No. 2 seed. They would face off against No. 7 seed Cornell in the first round.
Northeastern was able to win that game, 4-1, and advance to the regional final where they would take on No. 3 seed Massachusetts-Lowell. The Huskies had beaten Lowell twice during the regular season but this was a different Lowell team that had gone on to win the Hockey East Tournament championship.
In a back-and-forth game that saw five lead changes, Northeastern was finally able to come out on top with a 6-5 win in overtime. That sent them to the Frozen Four for the first time since 2015 and just the second time in program history.
The Huskies would take on Minnesota Duluth in the national semifinals and once again found themselves trailing in a game, 2-1, after two periods. But they would score three unanswered goals in the third period to punch their ticket to the National Championship game with a 4-2 win.
In that game, they would face off against Midwest Regional champion St. Cloud State It was a close game throughout, but Northeastern would ultimately prevail with a 3-2 win to claim their first ever national championship!
To get there, though, they needed support from their fans along the way and there were plenty of them at each step of the journey!
The Gameplan: How Northeastern Men’s Hockey Won the National Championship
Entering the tournament as the number four seed, few expected the Northeastern men’s Hockey team to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament Just getting out of the regionals was going to be a tough task, as they would have to go through top-seeded Michigan and then either third-seeded Notre Dame or second-seeded Clarkson. But the Huskies had other plans, as they went on to upset Michigan in the first round and then take down Clarkson in the regional final.
From there, it was on to the Frozen Four, where they would face off against another Cinderella story in seventh-seeded Massachusetts. The game was tight throughout, but Northeastern eventually came out on top 3-2 to advance to the National Championship game. There, they would take on defending champions Minnesota Duluth who were looking to become just the second team in history to win back-to-back titles.
The game was close once again, but Northeastern found a way to get it done, winning 3-2 in overtime to claim their first ever National Championship It was an improbable run that nobody saw coming, but at the end of the day, Northeastern proved that they were the best team in the country.

In the first round of the tournament, Northeastern faced off against Boston College This was a highly anticipated match-up, as both teams were evenly matched. Northeastern got off to a hot start, scoring two goals in the first period. Boston College rallied in the second period, scoring two goals of their own to tie the game. However, Northeastern regrouped and scored three unanswered goals in the third period to win the game 5-2.
In the next round, Northeastern faced off against University of Minnesota Duluth. This was another tough match-up, but Northeastern was up for the challenge.
