The Parry McCluer High School Basketball team is a Varsity Basketball team that represents Parry McCluer high school in Buena Vista Virginia. The team competes in Division 2 of the Virginia High School League The team is currently coached by Head Coach Matt Shannon.

History

Parry McCluer high school is a public high school in Buena Vista, Virginia. The school is part of the Rockbridge County Public Schools system. Parry McCluer high school serves grades 9 through 12.

The school was founded in 1870 and was originally known as the Rockbridge Seminary. The school was renamed Parry McCluer in 1913 after two local benefactors, Colonel James Parry and Judge Alexander McCluer.

Parry McCluer high school has a long history of success in athletics, particularly in basketball. The boys’ basketball team has won five state championships (1928, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932) and three Regional Championships (1928, 1929, 1930). The girls’ Basketball team has won two State Championships (1991, 1992) and one regional championship (1991).

The team is led by seniors Malik Johnson and Isaiah Harrison, who have both been nominated for the McDonald’s All-American Game Junior guard Jaden Martin is also having a great season and is being recruited by several Division I schools. The team’s success has been a surprise to many, as they were not expected to be contenders for the state championship this year.

The Game

Parry McCluer high school Basketball is a team sport played by two teams of five players on a rectangular court. The objective is to shoot a ball through a hoop 18 inches (46 cm) in diameter and 10 feet (3.0 m) high mounted to a backboard at each end.
Each team scores by shooting the ball through the opponents’ hoop as many times as possible within the predetermined time. The game is played on a court roughly the size of a football field. The team with more points at the end of the game wins.
