Wisdom was drafted by the Cardinals in the first round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft out of High School He played in the Cardinals’ minor league system from 2012 to 2016, compiling a .261 batting average with 63 home runs and 283 RBIs in 411 games.
In September 2016, Wisdom was added to the Cardinals’ 40-man roster. He made his MLB debut on September 7, 2015, and became the first position player from the 2012 Draft Class to make it to the Major Leagues
Wisdom has hit 20 home runs in each of his two full seasons in the majors, 2018 and 2019. In 2019, he also had 73 RBIs and a .252 batting average
The early years
Patrick Wisdom was born in 1991 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He played high school baseball at La Salle high school and was drafted by the Cardinals in the first round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. Wisdom made his professional debut that summer with the Rookie level Gulf Coast League Cardinals. In 2011, he played for the Low-A Quad Cities River Bandits and bathed .222/.340/.400 with nine home runs and 49 RBIs in 109 games. He split 2012 between Quad Cities and the High-A Palm Beach Cardinals, batting a combined .251/.366/.437 with 16 Home Runs and 77 RBIs in 135 games.
