Penn State Berks Baseball is a cut above the rest. We take pride in our team and our accomplishments both on and off the field. Our team is made up of student-athletes who are dedicated to their sport and their academics. We have a strong commitment to our community and we are always looking for ways to give back. Our goal is to be one of the top Collegiate Baseball programs in the country and we are well on our way to achieving that goal.

The Team

The Penn State Berks Baseball Team is a cut above the rest. The team has been consistently ranked in the top 10 nationally for Division III baseball teams. In 2019, the team was ranked #1 in the nation by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). The team has also been ranked in the top 5 nationally by every major poll, including perfect game and Collegiate Baseball News.

The team is made up of student-athletes who are committed to their academics and their sport. The team has a 3.5 GPA and 100% graduation rate. The student-athletes on the team come from all over the country, with representation from every state.

The team is coached by Mark Finelli, who has been with the program since its inception in 2006. Under his guidance, the team has won 5 conference championships and made 3 appearances in the NCAA Division III World Series

The team plays its home games at Bobby Tamayo Field, which is located on campus. The field underwent a $1 million renovation in 2017, which added a new press box, seating for 500 fans, and a state-of-the-art lighting system.

The Coaches

Head coach Bryan Caipen and assistant coaches Brandon Hodge and Matthew Kisker are excited to lead the Berks baseball team into the 2020 season. The Coaching Staff has a wealth of experience, with Coach Caipen having played professional baseball for 11 years and coached at the collegiate level for 15 years. Coach Hodge has also played Professional Baseball and has coached at the collegiate and High School levels. Coach Kisker played Division III baseball and has coached at both the high school and collegiate levels.

The coaching staff is committed to developing their players both on and off the field. They believe in creating an environment that promotes hard work dedication, and respect for the Game of Baseball The staff is looking forward to another successful season at Penn State Berks!

The Facilities

The facilities at Penn State Berks are top-notch, and the baseball team definitely benefits from that. The team has access to a brand new state-of-the-art indoor facility, which allows them to practice and train year-round. The facility includes six batting cages, a bullpen, and a Turf Field In addition to the indoor facility, the team also has access to two outdoor fields.

The Schedule

The 2019 Penn State Berks baseball schedule has been announced. The schedule is highlighted by 27 home games including 16 non-conference tilts. The Nittany Lions will open their season on Saturday, March 2 with a doubleheader at home against Lancaster Bible. First pitch is set for Noon.

The Fans

Penn State Berks Baseball is a cut above the rest, and their fans are a big part of that. From their die-hard devotion to the team to their creative ways of showing support, the fans of Berks Baseball are some of the best in the business.

The Future

The Berks Baseball team has had a rich history of success and has produced numerous Major League Baseball players, including Mike Piazza Shane Victorino, and Jeff Francoeur. The team is currently coached by Larry Hisle, who has led the team to four straight National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III World Series appearances.
