History

Potomac Falls High School is located in Sterling, Virginia and is part of Loudoun County Public Schools The school opened in the fall of 1994. The school’s first graduating class was in 1996. Since then, the school has become a comprehensive high school serving grades nine through twelve.

The Potomac Falls basketball program has been on the rise since Head Coach Ryan Cole took over in 2014. The team has seen a lot of success, winning two conference championships and making three trips to the Virginia State Tournament

The Team

The Potomac Falls Panthers have been on a tear lately. The team has won their last twelve games and they are currently ranked second in the state. head coach David Lowery has instilled a new level of discipline and dedication in his players, and it is paying off on the court.

The Panthers starting lineup consists of senior point guard Jaden Lowery, junior shooting guard Malik Johnson, junior small forward Davon Diggs, senior Power Forward Nate Hinton, and senior center Isaiah Stewart. Lowery, Johnson, and Diggs form a very dangerous backcourt that can score from anywhere on the court. Hinton is a physical presence in the paint that can rebound and block shots with the best of them. Stewart is one of the most fundamentally sound big men in the state. He does a great job of running the floor and finishing around the basket.

The Panthers bench is also very deep and talented. They have several players that could start on most high school teams in the area. The team’s success this season is a direct result of the hard work that Coach Lowery and his staff have put in to make this program one of the best in the state.

Patriot Basketball is on the rise. In just four years, the program has made tremendous strides under the leadership of Head Coach Tony Barone Sr. and his assistant coaches

At the helm of the program is Barone Sr., who has over 30 years of coaching experience at both the collegiate and professional level. He is joined by Assistant coaches JonPLEXICOAT and Chris Gblock, who have both played professionally and have extensive coaching experience at various levels.

The Patriot coaching staff has instilled a culture of hard work and commitment to excellence, which has translated into on-court success. The team has won back-to-back conference championships and made three straight appearances in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament

The Fans

A big part of any Home game is the atmosphere and the student section plays a vital role in that. They are always rowdy and into the game no matter what the score is. Even though the section may not be packed to the brim, every fan that is in attendance is engaged and cheering their hardest for their school.

The Future

Three years ago, the Potomac Falls varsity basketball team finished the season with a 5-17 record. It was a tough year for the Panthers, but Head coach Keith Lewis refused to let his team give up. “We just kept telling ourselves that things would get better,” he said. “We knew we had to trust the process.”

And trust the process they did. The following year, the team won eight games. Then, last season, they won 16 games and made it to the state tournament for the first time in school history.

This year, the Panthers are off to another great start. They are currently 14-2 and ranked fifth in the state. With strong senior leadership and a talented group of young players Potomac Falls is a program on the rise.
