Draft Coverage

The 2019 NBA draft was held on June 20, 2019. It took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The draft was televised nationally by ESPN. This year’s Draft Class is very talented and has the potential to change the landscape of the league for years to come.

Free Agency

In the world of Professional Basketball free agency is when a player is no longer under contract with any team and is free to sign with any team of their choosing. Players can only become free agents if they have played in the NBA for at least three years, or if they have completed their rookie contract.

There are two types of free agency restricted and unrestricted. Unrestricted free agency means that any team can sign the player, without restriction. Restricted free agency means that the player’s current team can match any offer made by another team, meaning the player is effectively “stuck” with their current team unless that team decides not to match the offer.

Players typically become free agents in one of two ways: via trade or by being released by their team. When a player is traded, their contract is automatically voided and they become a free agent If a player is released by their team (also known as being “waived”), they must wait 48 hours before signing with another team.

The NBA’s free agency period typically begins on July 1st and runs through September, although players can still sign new contracts after that date. During this time, teams can begin negotiating free agents but cannot officially sign them to a contract until July 7th.

Off-Season Activities

The off-season is a time when many basketball players take a break from the game to rest their bodies and minds. It is also a time when some players focus on improving their skills through various training activities. Here are some ideas of what players can do during the off-season to stay in shape and improve their game.

-One activity that many players participate in during the off-season is summer basketball leagues. These leagues give players the opportunity to continue playing the game they love while also staying in shape.
-Weight training is another popular activity among basketball players during the off-season. Players use weight training to improve their strength, explosiveness, and endurance.
-Finally, many players also use the off-season as a time to focus on improving their shooting, dribbling, and other skills. Players do this by attending basketball camps or working with personal trainers.
