The program has produced some of the best Hockey Players in the world, and has been a perennial contender for the National Championship Today, the team is one of the most successful in NCAA Division III and is consistently ranked among the top ten teams in the country.

The St. Olaf Hockey Program was founded in 1902, making it one of the oldest college hockey programs in the United States The team has won eight National Championships and has produced a number of NHL All-Stars, including Neal Broten and John Mayasich. In recent years the team has continued its tradition of success, winning the National Championship in 2009 and 2011.

Head Coach: Brad Berry
Brad Berry is in his fourth season as the Head Coach of the St. Olaf Hockey team Under his leadership, the team has won two conference championships and made three trips to the NCAA Division III tournament. Coach Berry is a two-time winner of the conference Coach of the Year Award and was named the National Coach of the Year in 2017.

Assistant Coach: Chris Ohran
Chris Ohran is in his second season as an Assistant Coach with St. Olaf Hockey. He has helped the team to two conference championships and three NCAA tournament appearances.Coach Ohran also serves as the team’s academic coordinator, helping players to balance their studies and their hockey commitments.

Assistant Coach: Nate Leckron
Nate Leckron is in his first season as an assistant coach with St. Olaf Hockey. He has previous coaching experience at the High School and junior levels. As a player, Coach Leckron was a four-year letterwinner at St. Olaf College and helped the team to two conference championships.

St. Olaf Hockey is the best college hockey experience because of the combination of our rich tradition, outstanding coaching, and passionate fans.

Our tradition dates back to 1896, when we became the first college in Minnesota to offer hockey as a varsity sport. Since then, we’ve won 12 national championships and produced numerous NHL players including current Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara

Our Coaching Staff is led by Head Coach Mark Johnson, who led the United States to a gold medal at the 1980 Olympics. Our assistant coaches include Doug Woog, who coached the 1992 U.S. Olympic team, and Bill Butters, who played in three NHL All-Star Games.

Our passionate fans are known for chanting “Ole!” after every St. Olaf goal. We also have one of the best college hockey songs in the country, “Proud to be an Ole!,” which was written by St. Olaf alum Tom Kelly ’77.
