Steve Cox was a professional baseball player who played for the Cincinnati Reds Chicago White Sox and the Baltimore Orioles He was born in San Francisco California, on February 21, 1960. Steve was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 8th round of the 1981 Major League Baseball Draft. He played his first game with the Reds on September 3, 1981, and his last game with them on September 27, 1987.
Steve then played for the Chicago White Sox from 1988 to 1989. He batted .274 with 7 home runs and 42 RBIs in 149 games with the team. He became a free agent after the 1989 season and signed with the Baltimore Orioles He played 83 games for the Orioles in 1990 before being traded back to the Reds on August 31, 1990. He played his final game on October 3, 1990, and his career ended with a batting average of .263, 36 home runs and 201 RBIs.

Steve Cox was born in San Francisco California, on October 17, 1965. He grew up a die-hard Giants fan, and his love for the Game of Baseball led him to a successful career as a professional player.
Cox played baseball at the University of California Berkeley, and was drafted by the Giants in the second round of the 1987 Major League Baseball draft. He made his Major League debut with the Giants in 1989, and played for them until he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds in 1993.
After three seasons with the Reds, Cox returned to the Giants in 1996. He played for San Francisco until his retirement from baseball in 1998.
During his 11-year career in Major League Baseball Cox was a three-time All-Star and won two Gold Glove Awards He was also voted America’s favorite baseball player in 1997.
Since his retirement from baseball, Cox has been active in various philanthropic endeavors. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Positive Coaching Alliance, a national non-profit organization that provides training and resources to youth and High School coaches with the goal of developing “better athletes, better people.”
Cox is also an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting and fishing. He currently resides in Montana with his wife and two children.

He played for the A’s for two years before being traded to the Chicago Cubs He played with the Cubs for four years before being traded back to the A’s. He then played with the Baltimore Orioles for one year before his career came to an end. He finished his career with a batting average of .267, hit 171 home runs and had 1,034 RBIs.
Cox was considered one of the best defensive second basemen of his time and was known for his outstanding Fielding percentage He led the American League in fielding percentage four times and won a Gold Glove Award in 1971. He was also a two-time All-Star. After his retirement from baseball, Cox became a successful businessman. He is currently the owner of several car dealerships in California.

His father, Frank Cox, was a high school baseball coach, and his mother, Peggy Sue Cox, was a homemaker. Steve Cox played baseball and football at Kentucky’s Jefferson County High School He was an All-State baseball player his senior year. In 1979, he accepted a scholarship to play baseball at the University of Kentucky
Cox played four years of Collegiate Baseball for the Wildcats. He was a two-time All-American and helped lead Kentucky to the College World Series in 1980 and 1982. He is Kentucky’s all-time leader in hits (351), doubles (79), Home Runs (60), and RBIs (304). After finishing his collegiate career, Cox was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the fifth round of the 1983 major league baseball Draft.
Cox made his Major League debut with the Orioles on September 15, 1985. He played four seasons with Baltimore before being traded to the New York Yankees in 1989. He spent three seasons with the Yankees before being traded back to the Orioles in 1992. He finished his Major League career with Baltimore in 1994. In parts of 10 Major League seasons, Cox batted .265 with 97 home runs and 510 RBIs.
Since retiring from playing baseball Cox has remained involved in the game as a coach and instructor. He currently resides in Louisville with his wife Amy and their two children, Chase and Paige.

Cox’s career took a turn for the worse in 2010 when he was released by the Red Sox after appearing in just four games. He was then out of baseball for two years before signing a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs in 2012. He appeared in one game for the Cubs that season before being released again.
Cox has struggled to find work since leaving baseball. He has had several jobs, including working as a bartender and a security guard. However, he has said that he is still hopeful of making a comeback to baseball someday.

He is an American former Professional Baseball Player Cox was a first baseman who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Yankees (1991), Chicago White Sox (1992-1993), Toronto Blue Jays (1994-1995), and Cleveland Indians (1996-1998). He also played two seasons in Japan for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp (1999-2000).
Cox was a three-time All-Star, and he won the Silver Slugger Award and the home run Derby in 1998. He is one of only four players in MLB history to have hit three home runs in a single game three times.
