STLCC Baseball: A Look at the Team

The St. Louis Community College Archers Baseball Team is coming off a successful 2019 campaign in which they posted a 34-17 overall record and won their second NJCAA District 16 championship in three years.

The Archers will look to build on that success this season with a talented and experienced group of players. STLCC will be led by a pair of all-conference performers from last year in first baseman Alec Auck ( Des Peres, MO) and outfielder Nate Tholl (Bridgeton, MO).

Other key returnees include pitchers Gabe Giltner (St. Charles, MO) and Jacob Booden (Florissant, MO), who both saw significant time on the mound last season. Giltner was STLCC’s top starter, going 8-3 with a 3.33 ERA in 13 starts. Booden was the team’s closer, picking up four saves while posting a 2.45 ERA in 35 innings pitched

The Archers will also have several new faces in the lineup this season, including transfers Camacho Cole (OF, Arizona Western College), Brayden Becker (INF/OF, Heartland CC) and Garrett M Union Keokuk CC).

With a mix of veteran experience and youthful energy, the Archers are poised for another successful season on the diamond.

STLCC Baseball: A Look at the Schedule

The 2017 STLCC baseball team has a busy schedule ahead, with conference and non-conference games throughout the spring semester. The Archers will look to build on their success from last season, when they won the NJCAA Division II District B title and finished third in the Region XVI tournament.

STLCC will open its season on Feb. 4 with a doubleheader at Jefferson College. The Archers then have a Home game against North Central Missouri College on Feb. 8, followed by a three-game series at Lewis and Clark Community College on Feb. 10-11.

The Archers’ first conference games will be March 4-5, when they host Lincoln Trail College for a four-game series. STLCC will also host Mineral Area College (March 18-19), East Central College (April 1-2) and Three Rivers College (April 29-30) for conference series this season.

STLCC will play several non-conference opponents this season as well, including several teams from the St. Louis area. The Archers will host Fontbonne University on March 15, and will play away games against Lindenwood University (March 22), Washington University (April 12) and Webster University (April 25).

The Archers’ 2017 schedule features several games against ranked opponents, including No. 7 Lincoln Trail, No. 9 Lewis and Clark, No. 10 Wabash Valley and No. 19 Eastern Illinois College. STLCC will also play No. 24 Kankakee Community College in its final regular season series on May 5-6.

STLCC Baseball: A Look at the Players

This year’s STLCC baseball team is shaping up to be a strong squad, with a mix of experienced returners and talented newcomers. Let’s take a look at the players who will be suiting up for the Archers this season.

In the infield, third baseman Hayden Whitehead and first baseman Kamron Dages are returning starter who will provide some much-needed power at the corner positions. Dages led the team in home runs last year, and Whitehead was second on the team in batting average Shortstop Daniel Duarte will also be back in the lineup after a strong sophomore season.

The outfield will feature a trio of players who saw significant time on the field last year: Left fielder Cole Daily, center fielder Bryce Kramer, and right fielder Malik James. All three are excellent defenders and should provide some good offensive production as well. Newcomer Jimmy Davis is also expected to see time in the outfield; he was a Standout Player in High School and has already shown good promise in practice.

On the mound, the Archers will have a solid group of starting pitchers, led by returning ace Jordan Woodruff. Woodruff had a great season last year and is looking to build on that success in his junior year. Other starters include left-hander Gavin Price, who was solid as a freshman last year; right-hander Griffin Baker, who has Good Stuff but needs to work on his control; and newcomer Tyler MacDonald, who has impressed in practice so far. The Archers also have a deep bullpen, with several relievers who could see significant time on the mound this season.

The St. Louis Community College Archers Baseball team is gearing up for another exciting season of Collegiate Baseball The team finished last season with an impressive 32-22 record and is looking to build on that success in the coming year.

One big reason for the team’s success is the support of the fans. STLCC baseball games are some of the most well-attended events on campus, with students, faculty, and staff all coming out to support the team.

This year, there are a few changes to the schedule that fans should be aware of. First, all home games will now be played atFabick Field on the main STLCC campus in south St. Louis County. This move will allow more fans to attend games and will make it easier for students to get to and from games.

Second, the team has made some changes to its game day promotions in order to provide more value for fans. For example, all Friday Night home games will now be “Dollar Night” promo nights, with select concession items available for just one dollar each. Additionally, there will be a variety of other promotional nights throughout the season, so be sure to check the schedule for more information.

The STLCC Archers baseball team is back for another season and the expectations are high. The team is coming off a successful 2018 campaign in which they made it to the NJCAA Division II World Series

The team is led by returning All-Americans, Brandon Gutzler and Luke Schlafly. Other key returners include catcher Sam Hilliker, pitchers Braden Stryker and Kellen Roccanova, and infielder/outfielder Joel Ortigoza.

The Archers will have their work cut out for them as they will be playing their first season in the highly competitive Mid-West Athletic Conference They will also be without Head Coach Steve Dighton, who resigned after last season to take an assistant coaching position at his alma mater, Southeast Missouri State University

Despite the challenges ahead, the Archers are confident that they have the talent and leadership to compete for a conference title and another trip to the World Series

The team is made up of players from all over the country, with several players from the St. Louis area. The team’s manager is Mike Matheny, who played for the Cardinals from 2000-2004.

The team is coming off of a disappointing 2018 campaign in which they finished with a record of 24-26 and failed to make the NJCAA playoffs. Nevertheless, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about STLCC baseball in 2019.

First and foremost, the Archers will have a new head coach at the helm in former Major League infielder Aaron Miles Coach Miles brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program, having played 11 seasons in MLB with various teams including the St. Louis Cardinals Colorado Rockies Chicago Cubs Kansas City Royals and San Diego Padres

In addition to their new Head Coach the Archers will also have a new home this season as they move into newly-renovated Meramec baseball stadium The stadium underwent extensive renovations during the offseason and is now one of the premier facilities in all of JC baseball. With a capacity of nearly 1,000 spectators, Meramec Baseball Stadium will provide Archer fans with an intimate venue to take in all the action this season.

Finally, perhaps the most important reason to be excited for STLCC baseball this year is the talent on the field. The Archers return several Key Players from last year’s squad including All-Region second baseman Eli Ellington and starting pitchers Nate Pearson and Tyler Thoelecke. In addition, Coach Miles has brought in a talented recruiting class that should make an immediate impact for the team.

STLCC Baseball: A Look at the Rivalries
The STLCC Archers Baseball Team is getting ready to take the field for another season and there are some great rivalries brewing. Here’s a look at some of the top matchups on the schedule:

-April 5 vs. Jefferson College: These two teams met in the Region XVI tournament last year, with Jefferson coming out on top. STLCC will be looking for revenge in this one.

-April 12 vs. East Central College: This is always a well-attended game as these two schools are only about 30 minutes apart. The Archers have had the upper hand in recent years but East Central is always looking to upset their rivals.

-May 10 vs. Lincoln Trail College: This is another matchup of two schools that are relatively close together. STLCC has won six straight against Lincoln Trail, but this one should be a good one nonetheless.

STLCC Baseball: A Look at the Future

As the 2019-2020 Season for STLCC baseball nears its conclusion, it’s time to start looking ahead to next year. This off-season, there will be plenty of changes for the Archers, as they will have to replace nine starting Position players from this year’s squad.

The most significant losses will be in the outfield, where STLCC will have to replace all three starting outfielders. The team’s leading hitter, Chris Hanks, will also be graduating, leaving a big hole in the middle of the lineup.

On the bright side, the Archers will return their top two pitchers from this season, Gabe Givens and Tyler Jay. They’ll also have a solid core of position players returning, led by shortstop Connor Barron and second baseman Blake Adams

With so many changes coming for next season, it will be interesting to see how the Archers adapt and what kind of team they field. One thing is for sure – they’ll have their work cut out for them if they want to make a return trip to the NJCAA World Series
