The Team’s Roster

The Stockton Women’s basketball team is composed of 11 talented athletes who are committed to giving their all on the court. The team is made up of 3 seniors, 5 juniors, and 3 sophomores. All of the players are highly skilled and have a strong passion for the game of basketball

The team is led by captains Alexia Thrower and Aliyah Hulbert. Alexia is a senior guard who has been with the team for all 4 years of her college career. She is a phenomenal shooter and an excellent leader. Aliyah is a junior forward who has been with the team for 3 years. She is an outstanding rebounder and a very tough defender.

The other seniors on the team are Jazmine James, a guard, and Samara Douglas, a forward. Jazmine is an excellent perimeter defender and brings a lot of energy to the court. Samara is a very versatile player who can play both inside and outside.

The junior class includes Ashley Johnson, a guard; Kiara Brown, a forward; Ariel Scott, a forward; Jade Washington, a guard; and Zaire O’Neil, a center. Ashley is an extremely quick player who is great at penetrating to the basket. Kiara is a very strong player who does an excellent job of rebounding and blocking shots. Ariel is another versatile player who can play both inside and outside. Jade brings great energy to the court and is an excellent perimeter shooter. Zaire anchors the team in the post and does an amazing job of protecting the paint.

The sophomores on the team are Brittney Bennett, a guard; Destiny Vega, a forward; and Unique Merriweather, a center. Brittney Bennett is an extremely talented player who has great potential for growth in her game. Destiny Vega is another versatile player whose athleticism allows her to do well in multiple areas on the courtThough she just joined the team this year, Unique Merriweather has already made her presence felt with her aggressive style of play in the post.

The Team’s Schedule

The 2020-21 Stockton women’s Basketball Schedule is highlighted by games against national powers UConn and Baylor, as well as a five-game homestand to open the season. Overall, head coach Patty Coyle and her team will play 13 of their 27 regular season games at the G.W.L. Center Arena.

As always, conference play will be top priority for the Ospreys as they look to improve upon their 9-7 record from last season and make a push for the ASUN title.
