The Texas A&M basketball team is gearing up for another season and we want you to get to know the 2018-2019 roster. From the returning veterans to the newcomers, here’s a look at the team that will be representing the Aggies this season.
Introduction
The Texas A&M Aggies men’s Basketball team represents Texas A&M University in NCAA Division I college basketball The Aggies compete in the Eastern Conference In their 110-year history, the Aggies have won 18 conference championships and appeared in 14 NCAA tournaments including two Final Fours.
Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis is a senior center on the Texas A&M University basketball team He is 6’10” and plays with a lot of energy. He is a good rebounder and is always hustling on the court.
TJ Starks
TJ Starks is a 6’3” point guard from Lancaster, Texas. He played his first two seasons at the University of Arkansas before transferring to Texas A&M. Starks will have to sit out the 2018-2019 season due to NCAA transfer rules. He will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2019-2020 Season
Admon Gilder
Admon Gilder is a 6’4”, 195 lbs shooting guard from Dallas, Texas. Gilder was a highly touted recruit, ranked in the top 100 of his class. He chose Texas A&M over offers from Baylor, Oklahoma State Texas Tech and others.
Gilder is a gifted scorer, averaging 19.5 points per game as a junior at Richardson High School He also averaged 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game Gilder has the ability to score from anywhere on the court, and is especially dangerous from beyond the three-point line He shot 41% from three-point range as a junior.
Gilder will be counted on to provide scoring and leadership for the Aggies this season. He has the potential to be one of the best players in the SEC, and could be an all-conference caliber player by the end of his career at A&M.
D.J. Hogg
D.J. Hogg is a 6-foot-9, 225-pound forward from Santa Ana, California. He played his first two collegiate seasons at Texas A&M, where he averaged 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore in 2017-18. Hogg decided to transfer to Oregon for his final two seasons of eligibility and will be eligible to play for the Ducks beginning in the 2019-20 season
Robert Williams
Robert Williams is a 6’10” center from Louisiana. He played his college basketball at Texas A&M, and was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2018 NBA draft Williams is known for his athleticism, rebounding, and shot-blocking abilities.
Savion Flagg
Savion Flagg is a 6-foot-7, 225-pound small forward from Ingleside, Texas. He originally committed to play for Texas A&M in 2016 but decommitted and instead signed with Baylor. He played two seasons with the Bears before transferring to A&M prior to the 18-19 season He will have to sit out the 2018-19 season due to NCAA transfer rules but will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2019-20 season.
Isiah Jasey
Isiah Jasey is a 6’7” Power Forward from Duncanville, Texas. He is entering his sophomore year at Texas A&M University. Jasey played in all 33 games for the Aggies last season, starting 3 of them. He averaged 2.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per game
Jay Jay Chandler
Jay Jay Chandler is a 6’4” shooting guard from Texas A&M. Chandler was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school and was ranked as the #3 shooting guard in the state of Texas. He chose to play for the Aggies over offers from Oklahoma State Baylor, and LSU.
As a freshman, Chandler saw action in 35 games, averaging 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. He improved his numbers as a sophomore, averaging 6.9 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. Chandler is considered one of the better shooters on the team, and will be counted on to provide a scoring punch off the bench this season.
Zach Smith
Zach Smith is a 6-foot-10, 220-pound power forward from Dallas, Texas. He played his high school basketball at PLANO WEST SENIOR high school Smith was a three-star recruit according to ESPN and was ranked as the No. 103 player in the state of Texas. He originally committed to play his College Basketball at Texas Tech University but decommitted and instead chose to join TAMU.
