In order to improve upon their disappointing 2017-18 campaign, the Owls will need to have a successful offseason After finishing with a record of 16-16 (8-10 in the AAC), Temple men’s basketball will look to rebound next season with a new Head Coach and some key additions to the roster.
The first order of business for the Owls will be to find a replacement for former head coach Fran Dunphy Dunphy, who announced his retirement in March after 11 seasons at Temple, led the Owls to six NCAA tournaments and five 20-win seasons. His replacement will have big shoes to fill.
On the personnel front, the Owls will lose leading scorer Shizz Alston Jr. to graduation. Alston averaged 18 points per game last season and was named First Team All-AAC. To replace his production, Temple will need players like Quinton Rose and Nate Pierre-Louis to step up. The Owls will also look to add some scoring punch from the freshman class, which includes four-star recruits Jaden Robinson and Damian Christensen.

Shizz Alston Jr.: A 6-4 guard from Philadelphia, Alston is also in his junior year. He averaged 12.5 points and 2.6 assists per game last season.
Jalen Carey: A 6-3 guard from Randolph, New Jersey, Carey is a freshman.
Aaron McKie (Head Coach): A 6-6 guard from Philadelphia, McKie is in his first season as head coach of the Temple men’s basketball team
