First base: redshirt junior Garrett Stubbs is a Returning All-American and one of the best hitters on the team. He’s also an excellent defender, and he’ll be a key player for UCI this season.

Second base: junior Kristian Gayday is a transfer from Iowa State who brings a lot of athleticism to the position. He’s a good hitter and he has the potential to be an excellent defender.

Shortstop: senior Chris Rabago is a three-year starter who is one of the best Defensive Players on the team. He’s not a big hitter, but he’s a steady presence in the infield.

The outfield is one of the most important parts of any baseball team – they are responsible for catching fly balls and stopping runners from getting extra bases. This season, the UCI baseball team has some talented outfielders who are sure to make an impact.

Leading the charge is junior Johnathan Perez, who was named Big West Conference Player of the Year last season. He is a talented hitter with a great arm, and he will be patrolling center field for the Anteaters this season.

Joining Perez in the outfield will be seniors Mikey Diekroeger and Ryan Anderson. Diekroeger is a versatile player who can play all three field positions and he hits for power and average. Anderson is a speedster who can track down fly balls and stolen bases, and he will be manning left field for UCI this year.

Rounding out the outfield is freshman phenom Gavin Grant, who was recruited from across the country to play for UCI. He is an athletic player with a lot of potential, and he will be starting in right field as a rookie.
