The Unh hockey schedule A Closer Look

##
The University of New Hampshire’s Men’s Ice Hockey Team is one of the most successful and popular collegiate sports teams in the country. They have a long and storied history dating back to their first season in 1903, when they were known as the Granite State representatives in the Intercollegiate Hockey Association Today, the team competes at the Division I level in the Hockey East conference and is a perennial powerhouse, having won 11 conference championships and regularly qualifying for the NCAA tournament

This season, the team will look to build on their recent success as they embark on another challenging schedule. Here is a closer look at some of the key dates on their schedule:

Oct. 6 – season opener vs. UConn

The Huskies will open their season at home against conference rival UConn on October 6th. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since UNH’s 4-1 win in last year’s Hockey East tournament semifinals.

Oct. 27-28 – Homecoming weekend vs. Merrimack

UNH will host Merrimack for their annual homecoming weekend series on October 27th and 28th. The Huskies have had great success against their in-state rivals in recent years winning 13 of the last 14 meetings between the two teams. However, Merrimack has always been a tough out at Lawler Arena, so UNH will need to be at their best if they want to extend their Winning Streak in this series.

Nov. 30 – Dec 2 – Holiday break trip to Denver

After wrapping up classes for the semester, UNH will head west for a holiday break trip to Denver where they will take on former Hockey East foe Denver University in a two-game series. This will be UNH’s first trip to Denver since 2012, when they swept then-#1 Denver en route to their sixth Frozen Four appearance in program history. This year’s Denver team is ranked #9 in the preseason USCHO poll, so this will be a good early test for the Huskies as they look to make another run at a Frozen Four berth. Dec 21 – Jan 1 – Winter break break games vs Arizona State & Cornell After taking some time off forwinter break, UNH will return to action with a pair of marquee non-conference matchups against Arizona State and Cornell at home on December 21st and January 1st respectively. Both Arizona State and Cornell are traditionally strong programs that should provide a good measuring stick for where UNH stands early in the season as they prepare for the stretch run of conference play leading up to the Hockey East tournament
