The team has won five conference championships and made seven NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 1977. The Titans have produced many successful players, including Hall of Famer Dave DeBusschere, who played for the team from 1958 to 1962. Detroit Mercy is also home to two of the winningest coaches in college basketball history, Dick Vitale and Perry Watson.
