The Team’s Rivals

As any good Basketball Fan knows, part of the fun of following a team is watching them compete against their rivals. For the Wayzata Trojans, there are a few teams that always manage to bring out the best (and sometimes the worst) in our boys in blue. Here’s a quick guide to some of the Wayzata Trojans’ rivals.

The Hopkins Royals have been one of the Trojans’ biggest rivals for as long as anyone can remember. The two teams are separated by only a few miles, and they’ve been duking it out on the court since the 1950s. The rivalry intensified in the 1980s when the two teams were consistently ranked among the best in the state. The Hopkins Royals usually give the Trojans a run for their money, and their games are always highly anticipated events.

The Eden Prairie Eagles are another long-time rival of the Wayzata Trojans. The Eagles are one of the best teams in the state year after year, and they’re always a tough opponent for the Trojans. The two teams have met in the State Tournament several times, with each team coming out on top once. The most recent meeting was in 2013, when Eden Prairie won in a close game

The Minnetonka Skippers are another team that always gives the Trojans a tough game. The Skippers are one of Wayzata’s closest rivals, and their games are always highly anticipated by both sets of fans. Minnetonka is usually a strong team, but they’ve had some down years recently. That hasn’t stopped them from giving the Trojans a run for their money every time they meet on the court, though.
